"I was referred to Dr. Derek Kram by my insurance in 2024 and scheduled an initial consultation. During the visit, his office conducted an exam and asked where I was experiencing issues. I explained that I was having problems with my shoulder and lower back. Dr. Kram recommended updated imaging to determine whether there were any visible injuries and provided imaging orders along with a list of clinics, including a few preferred locations. I contacted one of the recommended clinics, completed intake and pre-authorization, and after considerable delays learned that CareFirst Blue Cross Blue Shield denied coverage, stating the imaging was not medically necessary. I relayed this to Dr. Kram's office, and he indicated that the issue could be addressed through a peer-to-peer call with insurance and said his office would handle it. After that, communication largely stopped. I followed up multiple times over several months and was repeatedly told my information would be passed along and that I would hear back, but I never received confirmation that the peer-to-peer call was scheduled or completed. I continued trying to stick it out because this was post-accident and the first doctor I sought care from under my own insurance. I didn't want to appear to be doctor-hopping and genuinely expected follow-through. However, after months of no response, I was forced to seek care at another clinic in Baltimore. This was especially frustrating given the time and money already spent traveling nearly 40 miles for appointments. If the office was not going to be responsive or able to move forward, that should have been communicated early on rather than leaving me in limbo and effectively wasting one of my limited care opportunities."

"Dr. Kram is thorough and forward thinking. He does just treat symptoms. He prescribe necessary tests to accurately diagnose the problem in order to provide the patient with treatment options. He also informs the patient whether a treatment plan is based on scientific evidence and whether a particular treatment is temporary. If surgery is the cure for the problem, he lets the patient know. He also discuss possible side effects. It is difficult to schedule an appointment by phone. I have learned that scheduling online is most efficient."

"Dr Kram, is an excellent caring Dr. I had a really bad case of spinal stenosis. The pain and I could no longer walk or use my right hand. I couldn't write or feed myself or even bathe myself. Dr Kram made sure he got Dr Perim. (Another great Dr) and Dr jay Rhee (another top of the line Dr) . They took care of me and performed emergency surgery. Before Dr Kram I had seen multiple Dr's, had alot of xrays and MRIs. I was scared to death of spinal surgery. This man , this SUPER MAN DR. Took great care of me.
