"So there I was ... a most unfortunate accident breaking rhe top of my humerus off and in three pieces. Fortunately doctor Marchant was on duty. Pre-op when I asked about getting a soft cast, doc leaned in and said he's using fasteners and a large pin. You won't need a cast. He certainly was correct. After the two hour evening surgery, I woke up in a regular hospital bed outside of recovery. PA Steve was one of the first post surgery contacts besides the nursing team. The nursing team at Harbor Hospital was fantastic. Steve clearly described the recovery steps and physical therapy plans. Amazingly knowledgeable. Excellent bedside manners. Follow-ups with Doctor Marchant and PA Steve, were definitely wonderful experiences. I shared with them what an amazing repair and surgery. Incredible how well my arm is doing. For such a difficult start, the broken arm, to such a great recovery path. An amazing surgeon, and amazing team, Medstar experience and Doctor Marchant, kudos and I shall remain forever grateful! "Worst experience in my life. Truly a chop and release. Yes, he performed emergency surgery on me for a shattered femur. However, no long term effects and/or physical therapy instuction provided. Never told my left leg would be 1 1/2" shorter than my right leg. Never told I would experience 9 months of excruciating pain. Rods used shifted and were not replaced until an 1" beyond my hip socket. So, 6 months of additional pain.The same answer again and again..."It will take time." Amazing how office visit charts and hospital record charts will not be released. And, guess he worked his magic as alternative orthopedic surgeons will not accept my case for continued care.
