" 5-Star Review I've been coming to Active Physical Therapy in Gaithersburg for almost three months after my knee surgery, and this place has completely transformed my recovery. I started out in a brace that only allowed 90 degrees of movement, and at that time I needed a walker just to get around. With their help, I progressed to crutches, then to a cane, and now I'm walking on my own -- something I couldn't imagine in the beginning. Eric has an incredible understanding of muscles, nerves, and recovery. His knee massages relieved pain instantly and helped me perform exercises I couldn't do before. He always knew exactly what to adjust to keep me progressing safely. Haley and Vaishnavi have been outstanding. They monitored my healing with so much care, literally measuring my range of motion with a ruler to ensure I reached full mobility. Their rolling massages and cupping therapy were absolute game-changers -- helping with flexibility, pain relief, and overall recovery. On the days when the pain made everything feel harder, they adjusted my exercises with so much care and patience. They truly made my difficult days easier. Thank you for that Joseph has been fantastic as well -- patient, supportive, and very attentive. He made sure I understood each exercise and always encouraged me through every stage of progress. At the front desk, Frania and Valeria have been wonderful. They welcomed me warmly every day, helped schedule my Uber rides when I couldn't drive, organized all my paperwork, handled my authorizations, and kept my weekly appointments perfectly on track. Their kindness and professionalism made everything easier. Ricardo and Cesar pay exceptional attention to detail with the cold therapy, heat therapy, and electric stimulation treatments. They always set everything up perfectly and made sure I was comfortable and cared for throughout. The facility itself is amazing. They have every type of equipment you could imagine -- leg press, treadmills, bikes, shoulder cycles, mobility wheels, foot therapy tools, and creative rehab devices for every type of injury. The aqua therapy pool is incredible, and each session ends with a relaxing power-jet water massage. Their showers are spotless, which is the perfect way to finish up after pool therapy. Their positive spirit has truly made the difficult days of pain much easier to bear. My pain is so much less now, and although I still have a few more months of therapy ahead of me, I'm confident I'll feel like new by the end of this entire ordeal. And the atmosphere? Truly uplifting. On Halloween, the entire staff dressed in costumes -- still fully professional but bringing so much positive, fun energy to the clinic. I can't recommend Active Physical Therapy in Gaithersburg enough. Every person here played an important role in my recovery. They are skilled, caring, organized, and genuinely invested in helping you get back to 100%. "

"APT At first was a pleasant environment. It was nice to see the rapport within the therapist. I felt comfortable getting the care I needed. Things took a drastic change when I set boundaries with Joseph and his kindness was a facade. He made inappropriate compliments, verbally abused my 7 year old son, refused to perform and offer an explanation of treatment that was available to me and then told another Physical Therapist to "just do it" while he was completely ignoring my question to understand the procedure. Another client mentioned he made sexual comments towards me in another language. At first, I did not believe that was true. At first, it was a very playful environment where Joseph would offer encouragement do silly dances and use a silly voice. A days while into my treatment Joseph started offering compliments regarding my physical appearance. One day while he was doing manual therapy on my back, he turned on a love song, and then says " who is playing this love song I don't wanna fall in love while giving a massage" I had mentioned it to one of his coworkers, assuming they were one of the managers, but later found out that they were not and the situation continued to get worse. His behavior continued he constantly came towards me when I was not under his care trying to have personal conversations. Multiple times while other physical therapist were working on my back he would walk up to me and touch me on my shoulders and make a comment and I would tell him to stop and he would say it in a silly voice I don't have an off button. I then chose to just completely ignore his existence and continued the care of my body since I was in pain and the other physical therapist we're doing a good job helping me not just manage the pain, but get to the root of the pain. He would constantly walk into my peripheral vision, attempting to get my attention, and I would look away. He would continue trying to attention , and when I gave him a look attempting to tell him to stop, he would laugh and walk away, and shake his head. Joseph was constantly scrolling on his phone speaking on the phone in a different language as if he was on lunch break. I realized that after he saw that he could not get my attention anymore he went to the closest thing to me attempting to antagonize me. One day when my son was at my appointment simply standing and holding the treadmill while he was watching the television. Joseph used a fear inducing stern voice and said " Hey you, get away from that" Feeling unsafe While getting e- stim I registered that his behavior was inconsistent. Again he said in a loud, stern voice, get away from that and go sit down young boy. Joseph was walking towards my son, pointing at him and charging as if he was going to physically assault him. I felt so scared and triggered that I retreated and did not properly protect my son and I. I simply said to him maybe he didn't hear you and then he said "I told your son twice to get off that machine and he's disrespecting me". all I could see is sadness and fear in my sons eyes, and he was frozen to the point of not moving. I then tell Joseph next time can you not yell at my son, and get my attention. He then yelled and said "your son is being disrespectful and ignoring me" . At that point, I was so frustrated and ready to get out of there and asked Joseph to take the e-stim off my back. He then hisses at one of the younger coworkers snaps his finger at him he had a firm, angry look on his face and points towards me from across the room intimidating his co worker to come take the equipment off my back. I felt so powerless and continued going to the sessions because I was finally feeling less pain after an MRI got to the root of the issue. Before the MRI Joseph would ask what's your pain level? I would say a number and Joseph would say that's not possible you will be dead if that was your pain level The day I chose to share about his behavior and wanted to have a conversation with the higher ups I was discharged and not told, only to find out when I called the office."
