"I am incredibly disappointed at the treatment my mother received at Alden Estates of Skokie and I do not recommend the facility to Anyone. I don't believe the facility followed federal regulations and a facility that will patently disregard federal regulations in one area will do it in many areas. Before she came to Alden for Rehab from surgery she was told that they could provide her with kosher meals. They showed her a menu of options she was able to choose from for each meal. When she arrived there were very limited kosher options. After she had been there almost a week the nursing home ran out of kosher meals she could eat. The facility refused to order more kosher meals because they said it cost $10 per meal and they had to order 6. My mother asked them if they could get food from a nearby kosher establishment for $10 but the facility claimed that corporate wouldn't allow it. The facility told my mother that she would either have to eat the food they cook at the facility or bring in her own food. We attempted to contact the administrator but received no return calls. My mother had to leave the nursing home early, before her rehab was complete because of the neglect she experienced at Alden Estates."
"Went to Alden on old orchard road on August 8th for about a week after spinal fusion. They promised me kosher meals but ran out of many of their offered choices that were on kosher menu.and would not purchase more. They told me the meals come 6 to a pack for $60.00 and won't order more until I ate the two fish meals included. I tried but they were awful. I asked that they purchase some meals from nearby kosher restaurants but they refused. They suggested I eat the kosher graham crackers or have someone bring me meals. I live alone. Why do I have to worry about cost of kosher meals. I left earlier than I wanted because I was hungry and they were miserable about getting more kosher meals. I asked to see administrator but she never came. I'm sure the money they got from Medicare and Blue Cross was enough to cover kosher meals. I would have gone to a different rehab facility that had kosher meals but I went there because was promised strictly kosher meals. I was so aggravated, it ruined my stay and recovery. Because I left early I had to move in with family that didn't really have room for me"
"My mother spent two weeks here after hip surgery. The staff is wonderful, the facility lovely and the food very good. Her PT and OT went well and the Social Worker was great at keeping me informed. Recommend highly for rehab."
"My dad came to rehab with a fractured pelvis. He left with a fractured shoulder (when he fell on their watch) and a 6cm bed sore on his coccyx. He was transferred out early due to the negligent care."
"I was a patient for two weeks of rehab here following a total knee replacement. The PT and OT were excellent by therapists who really knew their stuff and pushed and encouraged me to work hard. When I went home I was far ahead of what was expected at that point. The care by nurses and techs was skilled and loving. Everyone there is trained to work with post knee and hip replacement surgeries so they usually anticipated my needs before I could ask. Alden Estates is THE BEST. I hope to return when my other knee requires replacement."
"My parent has been in the Alden for a few months. They are doing a great job with his rehab, nice and pleasant every time I call or have visited. I would recommend this place to anyone one seeking any rehabilitation. The PT is patient and says everything is going great with my parent. Thank you very much!!!"
"My family has been here for 2 months for rehab after some serious health issues. This is their second time at this rehab. The care has been great!! The staff is skilled, caring and responsive. Thank you Alden."
"I had a very good stay at Alden Estates. The PT and Ot personnel always puts you, the patient, first. They will challenge you as much as your body allows in order to make sure that you are fully functional again.I wanted to add that the nursing staff and the CNA's were also amazing. Their patients are their primary concern. They made sure my needs were met. In fact, they went over and above. During the first few days of my stay they helped me to the bathroom almost every two hours around the clock. Always pleasant and never made me feel like I was an imposition. The entire staff goes over and above to make sure you are well taken care of."
