Testimonials

Paulie B

"Georgetown MedStar hospital podiatrist Dr Paul Cooper presented himself as a physician who cares about the welfare of his patient, having a kindly spoken voice, easily and in understandable language helped deescalate my fears and concerns whether he'd even consider my request and in his prognosis he determined the very thing I had hoped for. I felt very secure in his professionalism and bedside manners."

"In 2011, I was referred to Dr. Cooper for a Subtalar fusion on my right ankle. It did not go well and left my foot severely crooked. Every time I came back for the follow-up visits, I felt like I was on a conveyor belt with 7 or 8 other patients. I had a hard time getting his full attention. In 2016, I found a fantastic team at University of Utah under Dr. Florian Nickisch who studied my situation and recommended a solution. I let him repair my foot. Inbetween, I visited ten doctors looking for a solution and an explanation of what happened - while experiencing much pain. From it all, I discovered the culture in hospitals plays an important part on patient care. Without proof, I honestly believe one of his medical students did my surgery and Dr. Cooper missed the error. While I am not a litigious person I will exercise my right to leave a review."

"I was injured in the Marine Corps in 2005 that resulted in a severely fractured talus in my right ankle. They had to rebuild my talus with four screws to get my ankle as best as they could. I was medically separated because of it. The Bethesda Dr advised that I should bear with it as long as I could, and I would ultimately require an ankle fusion in my later years. Well now that I'm in my later years, my ankle began to really bother me, impacting my daily routine. A colleague from work suggested that I visit Dr Cooper. Upon the first visit, he advised that my ankle was trashed. I thought I would have to get is fused. Dr Cooper let me know that a fusion was not practical, and recommended a custom 3D printed total ankle replacement. He let me know that I would regain the majority of the movement and a great reduction in pain. This is my journey. I had the procedure performed in September, and cast removed just today. It's looking promising. The surgery looks great at this point. I have PT in two days and looking forward to the benefits of this life changing procedure. I will provide updates to my journey. Also, Rebecca J. Is an awesome NP!!"

"After seeing 3 other ankle specialists and wearing 3 different braces Dr Cooper was able to give me an ankle brace that took care of the pain I had in my ankle. He gave me hope that I can start speed walking which I had given up these last two years. I have physical therapy for two months and hopefully I can make a recovery!! I am excited for the first time in 10 years that I will be able to resolve the pain in some way!! Thank you Dr Cooper!"

"Dr. Cooper is top-notch and I am so pleased that he was able to lengthen my leg a bit as he replaced my ankle, and grateful that my ankle is healing well so far! His PA, Rebecca, is also excellent and very helpful."

"It's my first broken bone(s) via a broken foot. I was referred to Dr. Cooper via another orthopedic surgeon due to some complexities. Dr. Cooper reviewed x-rays and took an indepth health history. He explained what had happened to my foot and what was needed to fix it. He clarified what each stage of this journey was going to take. He also constantly checked in during the initial consultation to make sure I understood what was going to happen. This will be my first major surgery ever. I am a bit less nervous after having talked to him."
