"I have NEVER had anything but horrible experiences at this hospital. Yesterday, my mother was taken to the ER, with chief complaints of pain and uncontrollable anxiety. She was also experiencing suicidal ideation. The entire 7 hours she was there, they left her to cry and writhe on a stretcher IN THE HALLWAY, in full view of anyone passing by. They then wanted to release her without ANY help or medication for her continued suicidal thoughts. When I confronted a nurse, and then a Physician's Assistant, they informed me that my mother "never" said she was having anxiety or suicidal ideation - one of her chief complaints! They prescribed a few pills to hold her over only after I stated that I wasn't comfortable taking her home in such a condition. And when my mother asked another nurse a question, the reply she received (with attitude) was "I just got back from lunch" as the nurse walked by without looking back. My mother was made to feel like she was a bother and a burden. If you want compassionate, thorough, knowledgeable care, AVOID St. Vincent's at all costs. They do the bare minimum with a maximum of contempt."
"Im giving 3 stars because they pretty much take care of my needs every time I go there. I'm withholding 2 stars because most of the nurses there treat the patients with contempt. Especially the young nurses. They make degrading remarks to the patients and treat you like you're a big pain in their butt. What they need to realize is that we want their company even less than they want ours. They wanted to be nurses. We didn't want to be sick."
"The hospital is clean. ALL employees encountered were caring and pleasant. No complaints on patient care or their staff. Three stars because the parking is horrific. There is no traffic control at the visitor parking garage. Not one guard or employee directing people. When you pull into ramp garage you soon discover there are many cars already in the garage looking for a place to park. The garage gets jammed up because there is no space. Cars are now trying to turn around and head back down to exit. One car turning around six piled up in a line waiting to do the same. Its ridiculous the hospital is not addressing it. Also can't understand why it is a visitors garage and you see hospital employees exiting their cars, walking through the garage, and heading into the hospital. They are in a spot I could have to get my family member to an appointment on time, which is difficult and we arrived 40 minutes early. We were almost late. Dropping off relative at 5:30 am for procedure and when leaving around 7:00 there was a lot of employees pulling into the garage. If you pass by the student employee garage coming back to visit there was a lot of empty spaces in that garage. Even coming back to visit family admitted is brutal. No parking. Valet parking is not easy. They are slow and the area gets jammed up because everyone that couldn't find a spot is now using valet. Long lines at the front desk to get your pass. Four elevators that are small and jammed w people. You have to keep waiting for space on an elevator. It takes at least 20 minutes to get through the front desk and get on an elevator. While the hospital was good w care getting into it is a different story. It needs to be addressed."
