Testimonials

Kristen Bailey

"I came to Dr. Starr after a few years of nagging L3/4 back problems and we started with a conservative approach (epidural injection). Unfortunately, I was subsequently in a car accident in Jordan where I fractured my L1 and damaged the L3/4 further, requiring a fusion. I always swore I would never get back surgery, but I felt so assured by Dr. Starr's reputation and all of my interactions with him that I decided to proceed. Both Dr. Starr, his assistant Ashley, and billing manager Gabby have been amazing in answering questions about the procedure and recovery, scheduling, providing clarity on costs, dealing with an insurance change literally in the day of surgery. I am 2-1/2 weeks out from surgery and feeling really good. Dr. Starr is, in my experience, a unique combination of confidence and kindness. He knows his stuff, but is not arrogant in explaining things or answering questions. I feel so grateful to have found him and to be on my way to feeling better than I have in years."

"Dr. Starr treated my teenage daughter and helped her get the care she needed for low back pain which was resolved without surgery. Recently he operated on my cervical spine ( ACDF). He is extremely professional, takes time to listen and has the unusual combination I believe for a surgeon of kindness and expertise. Ashley his MA is very attentive and responds to questions quickly. She is kind as well. I work in the medical field and this practice is an excellent choice for orthopedic issues."

"The staff is amazing in two offices. Why? Because I went to the wrong office first and they told me not to panic even though I knew now I'd be late going to the next office. The front desk staff were just lovely. Dr. Starrs assistant was also very nice and friendly. Dr. Starr himself was extremely nice, knowledgeable, quick to the point and not bad on the eyes (lol). He explained thoroughly what my choices were and what my future would look like. I did NOT feel as though I needed a second opinion. I knew immediately I was in the right place."

"Dr. Starr. is a very nice man who is extremely competent at spine surgery. I had a quadruple laminectomy and fusion recently and everything went exactly as planned. His determination and explanation of the best procedure for my situation was clear and took all factors into account giving me every confidence that it was the correct procedure and the Dr. Starr was the correct doctor to perform the procedure. I had the same excellent experience when I had a discectomy 10 years ago. I highly recommend Dr. Starr for lumbar spine surgery."

"I have a long history with doctors that spans to three continents. I can easily say that I've never dealt with a senior doctor with such experience and knowledge who is able to maintain such humbleness and "human" character. Good doctors usually have, and probably rightfully so, some degree of "god complex." When you talk to Dr. Starr you feel like you are hanging out with a friend. I had a 25 year old injury in my neck that I dealt with postponing surgery for obvious reasons. He operated on me a couple of years ago, and I literally never had this range of motion without pain throughout my adulthood. All of that while genuinely listening and taking care of my physical and social concerns. It's simply fun to go for an appointment with him. I wish half of the doctors I dealt (and still dealing) with have some of his magic. Let's call it relatability, but whatever it really is, it is definitely more than that."

Cindy Simms

"Great experience with Dr Starr and all of the staff. I felt heard, didn't feel like I was being pushed into a certain direction regarding care, and was given clear direction of how to move forward with my health care decisions. Highly recommend Dr Starr and his team."

Jon Stover

"Dr. Starr is exacting, conscientious and human. A rare surgeon with superb bedside manner who thoroughly explains everything he is doing. I visited eight reknown spinal surgeons before choosing Dr. Starr. While only two weeks out from a two level lumbar (L3-L5) fusion, I feel great and am looking forward to a new life of pain free mobility. I owe it all to Dr. Starr and his superb staff."

"Dr Starr is great. This was a followup visit for a full new metal back he did last November. Not only is he great but I have used two of his associates who I also rate very high, Dr Patel and Dr K. I like the practice of WOSM--very professional."
