"This review is long overdue. My father was a resident here and was discharged in November, and after coming from another rehab facility on the North Shore, the difference was truly night and day. From the moment we arrived, this place felt like the "Ritz Carlton" of rehab facilities-clean, immaculate, and welcoming. The environment alone gave us confidence, but it was the staff who made the experience exceptional. Nati, Jennifer, and the entire nursing staff were absolutely amazing with my 87-year-old father. They were incredibly patient, kind, and genuinely took pride in everything they did. It was clear that my father was not just a patient, but someone they truly cared about( I apologize if I'm missing a few names, because there were so many incredible staff members who made a difference). Gian, the admissions director, was always on site and available to answer any questions we had, which gave our family peace of mind. The PT and OT therapists (Marek & Michelle) were extremely professional annd kind and worked with my father twice a day. In just one month, we saw amazing and positive results far beyond what we expected. I truly cannot say enough good things about this facility. I would highly recommend this rehab center to anyone looking for exceptional care for their loved one."

"My mom Had broken her femur and had to have a surgery. Alden rehab Center Was a perfect place for her to be . I must say that everyone there were very nice and when I visited her for four weeks almost every day, Tatyana , front receptionist greeted you with a great smile , friendly, and kind.. Thank you, Alden family for taking good care of my mom."

"Do not bring your loved ones here. My Mom came for rehab- and they killed her. They kept her in bed for 3 months with minimal therapy. Of course she declined, developed multiple complications from the bedrest and required repeated re-hospitalizations because the staff doctor is incompetent. As an RN, I had to contact another doctor to prescribe diuretics because my Mom went into Congestive Heart Failure. They continued to give her extra salty food, even though a low sodium diet was ordered. My Mom DIED and I blame your facility. I even called for her clothing 5 times and no one would call me back so I could pick it up. They will lie and say anything to get you in here. It was so much better years ago when my Dad was there for rehab."

"I'd feel better & more honest if I were allowed to give ZERO stars. DO NOT SEND A LOVED ONE HERE. Under no circumstance should you send a loved one (or even a mere acquaintance) to this facility or allow any doctor/hospital to send anyone you know & have the choice to place to this facility. My dad has been in here 3 WEEKS & NO ONE HAS CONTACTED ME about his care or health condition. After making a big stink, 2 ppl called me. I got a call from a nurse w/a heavy accent who couldn't stop giggling at my frustration over lack of communication & over the whole experience. She actually said, "what you want me for?". I returned the other call 6min after they called me & have not been able to reach anyone in 3 days. Ea time I call, the receptionist says they'll connect me & then come back to say "no one is answering"--EVERY TIME? One receptionist was willing to take a message but I never got a call back. The other 2 told me they don't take messages & that I should call back in 10 minutes. Sure, I can do that cuz it's not like I'm working or taking care of my mom & family. Shockingly, it seems voicemail doesn't exists in Alden Northshore land either. I laughed when I read Alden's response to the other poor reviews about speaking w/an administrator. Good luck! The receptionist tried reaching them for me & "no one was answering". Ea visit I find my dad him lying on a bare mattress or a mattress w ONE torn sheet & when I question it, the CNA says they just made his bed. I pointed out the torn sheet & bare pillow & she shrugged her shoulders. I said I'd bring bedsheets & she told me I'd better make sure I put his name on them & wash them myself cuz things "grow legs around here & disappear". SERIOUSLY??? My dad is blind & I asked to see his menus so I could choose his meals for him & I got one menu & it was for the previous day. I asked the CNA, the nurses desk, & the nice woman who distributes the menus & got nothin. SMH. My dad says he's been living on their "fruit place" cuz he can't make meal selections. I'm appalled. I'm witnessing firsthand the nightmare that eldercare is in this country & everywhere else. Do better Alden. Do better society. Folks, prepare yourselves. P.S. in case you're wondering. My dad is using private insurance so "no", private insurance doesn't get you any better than the poor folks on Medicare & Medicaid."

"I cannot express enough gratitude to the incredible staff at Alden North Shore for the exceptional care my mother received during her stay. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and truly cared for. Angela, the administrator, was phenomenal. She took the time to explain every aspect of the care my mother would receive, which provided us with peace of mind during a challenging time. Her dedication and kindness set the tone for the excellent treatment that followed. The physical therapy staff, particularly Jennifer, was outstanding. She was not only skilled but also incredibly compassionate, always ensuring that my mother felt comfortable and supported during her sessions. The occupational therapist was also remarkable, contributing to my mother's recovery with patience and expertise. Nurses Dana and Nati were nothing short of amazing. Dana's warmth and professionalism were evident in every interaction, and Nati displayed such kindness and patience that my mother felt truly cared for. Their attentiveness made all the difference in my mother's recovery journey. Thank you to everyone at Alden north shore for your dedication and kindness. You all made a difficult experience much easier, and for that, we are forever grateful. Highly recommend this facility to anyone seeking high-quality care for their loved ones! I'm"

"I was transferred to Alden in June 2024 and spent six weeks there..a lot of recovery and physical therapy required. Yes it was very challenging and not sure I could succeed. But Magda and Marek were fantastic with the PT. Ashna was great with OT. And, a huge thanks to Nati (CNA) ..,I couldn't have gotten through without you!"

"I am very sad that I lost my sister. She was making progress with her health, and I felt bringing her for rehab to Alden on Touhy (Skokie) will be a good idea and she would be taken care of. Instead it turned out to be a nightmare, the Manager (Gian) was extremely rude to her and even pushed her in the room. They also gave her some medication which led to her being admitted in the ICU. Gian( manager) never notified or consulted with the family on the medication. Later on, I found out that she was given Haldol, which seems to be an end of life medication. After this incident, my sister never recovered, and ultimately she did not make it."
