"RML Specialty Hospital I was at RML for a little over two months so I can give a very thorough and detailed review as I was one of the patients whom happened to be alert during my stay. Let me start with the Doctors, both Dr. Huzo and Dr. Dahmieh are phenomenal Doctors and I really wish I could continue to see them outside of RML on an outpatient basis. There were a few nurses who stuck out to me and will hold a special place in my heart...Tiffini and MJ ALL DAY were the first two RN's I encountered and I must say they are truly compassionate and have a heart for the work they do. From day one these two nurses poured into me and let me know that I would get through this very trying ordeal. There was also nurse Shawana, Jala, and YoYo who were amongst some of my favs as well. The physical therapy team ROCKS, Tiffany, Occupational Therapist Xenia and Physical Therapist Francis made sure no matter how I felt they worked with me throughout the pain, the teary days and the days I simply wanted to give up. I was constantly reminded that quitting was not an option. Now let's talk about the PCT's the staffs who rock with you directly and daily. Amongst my favorites and personally requested were Diana, Felicia and Latonya. Latonya hugged me often and she just don't know how much those hugs SAVED me. Me and Diana fussed like no tomorrow and I still wanted to see her the next day cuz I looked forward to it as she was my bestie her and Felicia. Felicia would come in to help me even though I wasn't her patient. And I can't forget Ms. Mary she was absolutely the sweetest soul. Now there is always one bad apple in the bunch and for me that would be PCT SHIRLEY, she was absolutely awful to me...the very first day she was assigned to me she was mean had an attitude and talked to me like crap. I was going to continue to try and be pleasant my best wasn't having it and had her removed from my service permanently. I must also say when it comes to the overnight staff most of them are not the most pleasant people to work with either. They act like you are bothering them if you dare hit that call button at night and this was the most of the nurses and the PCTs, how there were a few good ones...Shree, Connie, and one more who's name I forgot but I loved her too. I'm just glad I wasn't sickly or I would have hated to be there alone overnight. Regardless of the few bad apples all in all I give this place 5 stars."

"My mom was admitted here from October 22, 2021 until Feb 18, 2022 due to multiple stage 4 pressure ulcers she acquired at locked medical facilities during the "COVID19 pandemic". I offer this long (overdue) feedback to those considering this facility. Pros: Her largest ulcer healed by more than 1000 cubic centimeters at RML. The wound care team is professional, regularly met with me in person, and emailed me 100s of photos. This line of communication allowed me to get some sleep at night. RML nursing staff also did an excellent job training me. I went from being afraid to even touch my mom's ulcers to being able to dress them daily and continue healing her at home (& knock on wood that will continue). Most staff seems to genuinely care. There are talented nurses from around the world working here. I met people from Bangladesh, India, Iran (particularly special given our family background), Mexico, The Philippines, etc. They taught me a lot. I was happy with how communicative the care coordinator was. It's a rare trait to find in the American healthcare industry. Despite all the insurance-related challenges, I believe she invested much of her time in securing resources for my mom and me. RML is clean. The grounds are well maintained & there are ample supplies for wounded people. My mom was on an expensive alternating air mattress. The people who greet you at the front are polite. This may seem like a small detail but small details add up. If I compare our experience at this hospital to others (for example Mt. Sinai, which can't manage to offer a functional clock & TV), the quality is night & day. Cons: There were 2 back-to-back instances when I found my mom lying flat in her bed with her feeding tube running. I reported the aspiration risk. Whether that explains why she needed CPR later the same weekend, I'll never know. [I'm just glad she survived & God Bless Nurse Alondra]. RML follows CDC guidelines. A large amount of its funding comes from the CDC. Unfortunately, that means if the CDC arbitrarily decides hospital patients shouldn't have basic human rights (e.g. visitors), RML complies. It was emotionally distressing to be abruptly separated from my mom last Christmas, given the injuries she had already endured at other locked medical facilities during the "pandemic". Thank God RML staff didn't use COVID as an excuse, but rather continued to uphold its high-quality standards and healing her during my forced absence. I wish a hospital as otherwise amazing as RML would do more to resist illogical CDC mandates, and higher-ups would push back, although I understand some people may disagree and/or feel they can't afford to lose their jobs. After months of planning for a home discharge with the care coordinator, I was initially upset we had to go to court when insurance funding ran out and RML decided a nursing home discharge would be safer (i.e. faster). It wasn't though. ----- The time in court turned out to be a great blessing in disguise as it dragged on for weeks, my mom continued staying at RML and healed significantly more. Thank God, in the end, RML dropped the case, and we are finally living together for the 1st time in 27 years! We are eternally grateful for the additional weeks of healing that occurred because of RML and at RML's expense. ----- In conclusion, RML is by far the best hospital in Chicago my mom has ever been admitted to. RML is far from perfect though & my 5 stars are not intended to reflect that it is. I encourage the staff to continue striving for improvement. Better yet, challenge the status quo by leading the way in making the revolutionary societal changes so desperately needed for all of us in American Healthcare right now. If your loved one gets admitted here, visit as much as possible and be glad you have that ability because you never know when the CDC or some other all-too-powerful governmental organization will take that human right (privilege?) away again. I hope this detailed review helps someone out there. I'm Amelia Simkins. Feel free to find me/ reach out."

"Often, we hear of the bad that comes along with healthcare, completely forgetting those experiences and people who change the way we look at medicine. I am fortunate to have had such compassion in such a trying time for my family and I. In the midst of a personal downturn, my vehicle was totaled and I was unable to get another. Because of this, I fought extremely hard to get my husband into this RML location. It made seeing my husband a possibility post car totaling. Unfortunately, a bed was unavailable and I was scared to send him to the Hinsdale location because I couldn't afford to Uber there. In the midst of me explaining this to the receiving social worker, she asked if she could make a call. Not only did she call me back, but she told me something absolutely unbelievable. Their CEO was willing to provide me with transportation until my husband was able to be transferred back to the Chicago location. Not only was that incredibly compassionate, it was completely out of scope of their duty. My family and I could never truly express our gratitude for such kindness and compassion, but it is imperative that we exclaim to the world that there are still kind people in healthcare. Thank you so much for everything. My heart is full of gratitude. My only goal is to pass along that kindness to someone else in need. Though I could never truly express my gratitude, I hope that this review helps someone who is looking for care for themselves or a loved one. RML has shown more than just quality care. They've shown what it means to be interconnected and what community with compassion can do. Thank you!"

"My sister went here for rehab after a life threatening motorcycle accident with a severely foot injury. This place completely dropped the ball!! She ended up having to go back to the trauma center with a new infection in her foot that caused her to have to have another unnecessary surgery. NEVER AND I MEAN NEVER SEND YOUR LOVED ONES HERE! EVEN IF IT'S YOUR DOG!!"

"I am thankful to have had a unique experience here, while they cared for my little brother. Between Michelle and Jasmine at front desk, making sure my families visits were welcomed and went well. To his caregivers on the fourth floor, Myra, Violet and his best friend MJ all day! We had great helpful hands that made my brothers stay here pleasant and as painless as possible, given his critical condition! As well as his physical therapists' Mr. Tone and his crew! Thank you Dr. Huzo and the rest of the staff for doing their best to make sure my brothers' recovery went beyond all our expectations!"
