"So I injured my foot to the point I needed surgery involving plates and screws... I was not very mobile since my injury and this was honestly the most physically traumatic thing I have had happen to me... I was scared to really put my foot down when I got hurt... I kept irrationally fearing my foot was going to shatter if I put it down...the injury, the surgery and now we get to the recovery... which included PT sooner than I had thought... I was about 7 weeks post surgery (of which I was not mobile and was using a knee scooter for those weeks) my 1st steps at the surgeons office were like a baby giraffe.. my brother recommended Professional Physical Therapy being he went there many years ago... I show up and no lie had the idea I could just do this stuff at home (which i learned absolutely not)... boom in comes Dr. Niyyah Kelly she took notes on my injury the first day and showed me some stretches and exercises that she wanted me to complete at home which were also some that I would complete when I went to PT in addition to other things... Any time I went to PT at first I had a some anxiety because all I kept thinking was that I was going to reinjure myself. But Niyyah was reassuring that nothing was going to happen to my foot and that I was not going to reinjure it... there were times she's telling me to do something and I would literally have wide eyes like this can't be serious and all it would be was a minimal as putting weight on my foot which felt like torture at first... when she told me I could move to using one crutch she took time to walk with me and show me how to keep my balance... I remember my body being so tense with every step but also kept hearing "put your foot down you're not going to hurt yourself".. even when I would hop on one foot from the table to the chair she's would assure me that I was ok to take a few steps on my injured foot and it would be ok... Over time all the exercises and slowly putting weight on it all became easier... I was in less pain and at home could do more than I thought I was capable of... I can honestly say I had ZERO confidence in using my injured foot...but again Niyyah helped with that by reassuring me it was ok and pushing me with what I had to do... When I was able to start PT in my sneakers I was so nervous just staring at my feet when I walked but again just like with my crutches Niyyah was right there ... even hearing Dr. Will's encouragement of "you got this Melissa" was a good thing.. She was excellent in answering any questions I had regarding my recovery as well as recommendations for shoes to help with my recovery.. I would recommend this place and Niyyah to anyone who is going through a recovery journey and in need of PT... The front desk staff, PT assistants are all also helpful and great to work with.. the other therapists are also very nice.. I still have a ways to go but I couldn't have asked for a better place to trust with my care.."
