Testimonials
"When my son Desmond was diagnosed with autism at age two, he began receiving speech and occupational therapy at another clinic. Due to unexpected billing issues, his services were paused for almost three months, which was incredibly stressful during such an important developmental period. Wanting to ensure continuity of care, we reached out to Skills on the Hill, and from the very first interaction, I knew we had made the right decision. The intake process at SOTH was seamless and reassuring. Hannah was incredibly responsive, knowledgeable, and compassionate, walking us through every step of referrals, evaluations, and scheduling with clarity and care. What can often feel overwhelming was instead low-stress and supportive, which meant so much to our family. Shortly after, Desmond began speech therapy with Julia and occupational therapy with Kristin. From the beginning, both therapists demonstrated not only strong clinical expertise but also a deep understanding of Desmond as an individual. They took the time to learn his needs and interests, which helped him feel comfortable despite his difficulty with transitions. He adjusted quickly and even began calling the clinic "the gym," which made him excited to attend therapy. We have been very pleased with Desmond's progress, especially in his speech clarity, confidence with pronunciation, willingness to attempt challenging sounds, early reading skills, and improvements in balance and coordination. His therapists are intentional, thoughtful, and consistently address areas of need while keeping sessions engaging and motivating. Most importantly, Skills on the Hill has provided a safe and supportive environment where I feel completely confident leaving my son in their care. The collaborative approach across the intake team, therapists, and care coordination has made a challenging journey feel manageable. I am truly grateful for the support and dedication shown to our family."
"SOTH is an outstanding therapy clinic. My toddler did PT, OT, and speech here for three months while we were on temporary assignment in DC. SOTH took care of all the authorizations with Tricare and had us scheduled within two weeks, by far the smoothest healthcare experience we've had for my daughter. The therapists are amazing, so kind and skilled. My daughter made huge progress in her three months here -- she took her first steps in the SOTH gym during PT! I can't recommend SOTH highly enough and wish we could stay longer or take them back home with us!"
"Skills on the Hill has been an incredible resource for our family. Our son started receiving therapy here when he was 2 years old, and now, at 8, he is absolutely thriving! Over the years, he has benefited from physical, speech, and occupational therapy, all of which have been tailored to his specific needs. The progress he's made has been truly remarkable. The therapists are not only experts in their fields but are also warm, compassionate, and deeply invested in his success. We've also taken advantage of the parenting resources they offer, which have been invaluable in helping us support our son's development at home. Skills on the Hill has become a second home for us, and I couldn't recommend them more highly for any family in need of pediatric therapy services in the DC area. This place has made all the difference for our son's growth and happiness!"
"My son is currently 9 years old and has been receiving services (OT, PT and Speech) for five years at Skills on the Hill. I consider the staff at Skills to be an extended part of our family. All of his therapists have been invested in him reaching his full potential and have played an integral role in his development. Skills is an exceptional Pediatric Therapy center and I've recommended them to several other families seeking services."
"We had a great experience with SOTH! My son went for weekly OT sessions for feeding for 8 months, and we saw a remarkable difference in his eating habits. He preferred purees well past the age of 2, so we went to SOTH for help better integrating table food into his diet. I can't say enough great things about his OT, Ms. Kristin, who made eating fun for him. She also focused on increasing his physical strength, which I think also helped him eat better, since he could better support himself. I'm so grateful to SOTH!"
"My children have been patients at SOTH since they were toddlers/infants. We have been so grateful for the OTs and PTs for the incredible work they have done with both of our kids. The communication has always been strong with the therapists and Kristen and her team have been and will continue to be excellent resources for my husband and I as we continue to navigate our special needs journeys with our children. The camps have been game changers for both kids in addition to the weekly services they have received. Overall, this is an excellent practice that we have recommended to other parents and will continue to do so."
"My 4 year old son has been receiving weekly speech and OT services at Skills on the Hill for the last year and a half. He also attended six weeks of the Early Learners Summer Booster camp last summer and will attend again this summer. Before SOTH we were completely overwhelmed and discouraged as parents. However, the therapists have taken my once rigid, frustrated, anxious, fearful, and aggressive boy and helped him become the sweet, loving, social, and adventurous kid that I see and enjoy today. I know that there will continue to be challenges for him but I am grateful for the expertise and skilled support we get from the compassionate and patient therapists at SOTH!"
"Skills on the Hill was a blessing for our family. When we got the hours from DCPS to work with them, there were quite a number of restrictions on timing. They were very flexible with therapists with us to ensure we were still able to receive services. All the therapists we worked with were also very patient and knowledgeable. They went above and beyond to work with my child on areas that he needed help even when I hadn't specified those issues. We were glad to work with them"
