"Dr A is hands-down, the best of the best. I cannot say enough About how wonderful he is. A very talented surgeon, but equally as important a good human. His staff loves him just as much as we do as patients. Would not trust my daughter's care to anyone else."

"Dr. Annunziata did an ACL reconstruction and meniscus repair for my right knee post a sports injury. He is incredibly thorough and professional, as well is very detailed in his craft. He was the 3rd ortho doctor that I met with and instantly put me at the ease with his expertise and care. His whole team was amazing the day of the surgery and I couldn't be happier with the outcome."

"Hands down!!!! The best doctor I have ever met in my life. Dr. Annunziata was the kindest and most patient doctor. He was extremely knowledgeable and had the best bedside manner. I actually left in tears (happy tears) because I felt so comfortable to have him as my surgeon/doctor. If you are able to get on his busy schedule - you have literally won the lottery!!"

"I was fortunate to see Dr. Chris Annunziata- best in breed - and also a heck of a nice guy. I've now been to see him for frozen shoulder, broken knee and now tennis elbow. Life happens, but at least I have a great doctor and facility in OrthoVirginia - can't recommend more highly."

"I am an athletic bodybuilding hobbyist and needed a total shoulder replacement to continue working out. I met with Dr Murthi first, who explained that he would connect the long bicep tendon to the humerus bone with a cap anchor. I decided to investigate other surgeons and meet with Dr Annunziata. I told Dr Annunziata that I had previously met with Dr Murthi and Annunziata was well aware of his capabilities. Dr Annunziata's description of the bicep tendon relocation procedure was very generic. When I spoke to clarify the bicep tendon connection to the humerus bone, Annunziata made no corrections about my statement leading me to believe that procedure would be done. He also assured me there would be no popeye deformity of the bicep. My primary concern was to have the bicep tendon attached to the humerus to preserve the bicep strength and appearance. The day of my surgery in Tyson's Corner VA, I asked a surgery team member how the bicep tendon would be connected to the humerus bone and she told with sutures. After the surgery, my long bicep head was completely deformed and sat 2 inches below my shoulder in a classic popeye knot. I complained immediately to Annunziata and he took no actions to correct the deformity. He just told me to wait and give it time. After 4 months went by and I was able start working out again and I realized this was really a problem for me. It cramps, weakens the arm substantially and just looks like shit! At that point I contacted Annunziata and told him I wanted surgery to fix the problem. We spoke on the phone a few days later. I told him my bicep looks like it was connected 2 inches too low on the humerus bone. I detected embarrassment in his voice when he told me that the bicep was not attached to the humerus. He said it was attached to the subscapularis tendon and that was the only way he did it, because attaching the bicep to the humerus was much more complicated and he does not do that procedure. I literally did not know how to respond to this information that I'm hearing for the first time from someone who surgically altered my body! I had never heard of that tendon procedure before, but it obviously caused a popeye deformity that he lied to my face before the surgery about saying that would not happen. Annunziata did not have enough consideration for me as a patient to tell me which tendon procedure he planned to use and allowed me to go into surgery believing my bicep tendon would be attached to the humerus bone, as Dr Murthi would have done. During this phone conversation, Annunziata told me that moving the bicep tendon to the humerus at this point would facilitate better arm strength, but of course he did not recommend I have the procedure and again asked me to wait a year for all healing to complete. The following week I met with Dr Murthi again to see if he could fix the arm. Dr Murthi told me that in order to correct the bicep deformity, the bicep tendon would have needed to be moved within a month or so after the shoulder surgery. Murthi said the bicep tendon could not be moved now because it was scared in and is permanently fixed to the subscapularis tendon. During the short post surgery time window when corrective actions were possible, Annunziata did nothing at all to help me. Therefore, I can't recommend Dr Annunziata for shoulder surgery at all, unless you're too old and inactive to care about the condition of your bicep with the single tendon subscapularis sling procedure Dr Annunziata hides in his surgery arsenal. I obviously picked the wrong doctor for my shoulder surgery. I should have had Dr Murthi perform my surgery to preserve my bicep."
