"Anna Irwin does not do her homework. I had an L1 fracture and she told me I would be pain free the next day. The spine doctor told me she filled in one fracture but not the other two. Why didn't she know where were two more!!! I had no relief from the pain until it healed naturally. I was horribly sick from the anesthesia and still in pain. She had the nerve to send me a bill for $50 a year later!! FIND A COMPETENT DOCTOR!"
"In November 2023, I had a referral from my orthopedist/sports medicine doctor to see Dr. Irwin to give me an injection. I called her office and provided my insurance details and was assured that my insurance was accepted and in-network, and made an appointment for 11/21/2023. I drove across town (in the rain) to the appointment, thinking I would get treatment/relief on the day since I just needed an injection (which was her speciality) and had done similar with a referral from an orthopedist and an injection on the day I showed up at another pain management doctor (without prior consultation). I get to the office of Dr. Irwin's, which is strangely quiet with just one patient waiting, but plenty of free goldfish crackers spread around the room. The front desk was pleasant and said I would see the doctor soon. I asked about my insurance and was told by front desk that everything was ok and that I should be fine and it was approved. I ask about a co-pay, and was told, "no no," which seemed weird, since all other doctors took co-pays with my insurance. I see Dr. Irwin who tells me that I don't get treatment on the day and that insurance had to approve the procedure, which seemed to conflict with what I had been told all along by her own office, several times, and I would have never made the effort to drive there if it wasn't definitely the case that my insurance would be accepted. There was no need for an examination, which I didn't get, and had told her that the issue had been ongoing for 6 years and she could see the referral anyway from my orthopedist. [I think Dr. Irwin pushed on my shoe as if I were getting fitted for new sneakers and asked a couple questions]. It was perfunctory and seemed out of place given that I had been led to believe I would just get an injection right away. I am told I would have to make another appointment to get treatment. I leave and then get several calls from her billing service (not the front desk) who say my insurance is not responding or they "can't figure it out." I have CIGNA and it should be pretty straight-forward, I would think and I understand the insurance, but explained that I don't work for CIGNA and that's their job to understand - the fact that I had to explain this was absurd, but I was already in a stupid situation, I could tell. I am told that I am very kind and patient versus other patients who they've been calling with similar news (I assume that they are being told their insurance isn't getting approved). The person (I think her name was Monique). Monique said, "I understand that people are in pain, but they are all yelling/swearing at me and hanging up." Monique said she would consult with CIGNA again. Well, turns out that the CIGNA policy did not approve of any procedure, but I got charged almost $800 for seeing Dr. Irwin with no treatment rendered. I was outraged. Dr. Irwin did NOTHING and couldn't even provide service under my insurance plan, yet is billing me this outrageous amount? I contested this with her office and with CIGNA on the line (in a recorded call that lasted over an hour on 11/29/2023) and was told by Clearway that the $800 would disappear and CIGNA said that the provider had "misrepresented" that my insurance was accepted. I thought it was a settled matter, except that 18 months later I received a surprise bill for the same amount. Fast forward to March 26, 2025, I receive a surprise bill from Dr. Irwin/Clearway Pain Solutions for the same amount. Am currently going through the Maryland Attorney General's office to get this wrongful bill eliminated, but who needs this? By the way, I got much better care and for less with an actual MD and it was night and day the level of care. Thank you. Beware - you could end up in more pain, ironically, if you go to this place."
"Just being greeted by your secretaries at the front desk was truly top-notch, I wish you could clone other offices to have more people like you'll answer your calls or quit you when you walk into your office.. Unfortunately my primary doctor dropped me for reasons I've already disclosed to you and if someone could call me money I'd be very grateful so I can give you more details"
"5 stars to Dr. Irwin and her amazing office and medical staff. She is the first doctor to ever help me with my pain. I have been suffering from back pain most of my life. I have been to 2 chiropractors and 3 physical therapy groups. They all caused me more pain than they cured."
"Dr. Irwin and her staff provide truly exceptional patient care, from the reception desk to those administering procedures. Their focus on being kind, friendly, and caring makes a world of a difference to patients experiencing pain and stress."
"I've been seeing Dr. Irwin for a little over a year now after suffering a back injury. Not only has she offered excellent care and treatment, but her office staff are an absolute joy. They are all so friendly and helpful. I really can't recommend them enough"
