Testimonials
"Dr. Sanders is a great person and an even better doctor! Have been to see Sanders multiple times over the last several years for different injuries and he has always had my best interest at heart. Honesty is key and while he is more conservative in nature, will not just jump to shots and surgery, he will give you all the options so you can take the best approach to your own care and putting yourself on the right track to healing. Everyone who's everyone knows or goes to Dr Sanders for a reason, he's the best of the best!"
"I've been going to see Dr. Evans for about 4 years at the Silver Spring location at Holy Cross. He is a great Dr and is attentive. This has to do with appts and the front desk. I am never seen on time which is frustrating as it's usually a 15-20 min wait after appt time. The older woman of color who is the first you see in the office lacks customer service and is always short when you ask questions with a sarcastic undertone which automatically puts you in a defensive mood. She's been there for years and I don't understand why as I have heard how she talks to others. I just basically give her the same energy she gives me so I can move past her and have my visit with an excellent Dr. But if you are okay with starting a little later and move past the intake side, I recommend Dr. Evans...I'm not the only one complaining about the front office...look at other reviews"
"If I could give them zero stars, I would. I saw a doctor on a Thursday. He ordered an MRI. The radiology office needs a copy of the clinical notes to get an authorization to do the MRI. I called the practice twice and left messages. I left the fax number to the radiology office. I tried to leave a message for the doctor but the front desk refused. Now, almost two weeks later, the radiology office sent this - Hello, this is Charter Radiology with an update on your insurance imaging authorization. We have contacted your referring physician's office multiple times requesting your clinical notes. To date we have not received your notes, and cannot start your authorization without them. We want to keep you informed of the hold up. If you want to contact your referring physician to let them know we need the clinical note, that would be helpful. Please feel free to reach out with any questions. Thank you. I made an appointment with another practice. You should too."
"My experience with Dr. Derek Kram at the Greater Washington Orthopaedic Group was unbelievably disappointing. Our first visit set the tone--we were left sitting in the waiting room for over an hour, completely ignored. It honestly felt like they didn't care whether we were there or not. But what happened with our follow-up appointment was even worse. We called ahead to let them know we were running 15 minutes late, and the scheduling staff we spoke to was incredibly disappointing. In my experience, she was not polite at all and spoke to me with an attitude that felt like "who cares" while I was trying to explain the situation. Instead of showing any understanding or professionalism, she immediately said the doctor wouldn't wait and canceled the appointment on the spot. After they made us wait an hour the first time, this was beyond frustrating. And the final insult? The billing was ridiculously expensive, especially considering the lack of professionalism and basic respect we experienced. I left feeling frustrated, dismissed, and honestly shocked at how poorly everything was handled. Based on what we went through, I would never recommend this place to anyone. It was one of the most disappointing medical experiences I've had."
"The orthopedic doctor we saw at this clinic was excellent -- knowledgeable, kind, and very helpful with my son's knee injury. I have absolutely no complaints about the medical care we received. However, my experience with the clinic's billing practices was very disappointing. On our second visit, my son was given a DonJoy Drytex Sport Hinged Knee Sleeve (wrap-around, X-Small). After looking up the product directly on the manufacturer's website, I found the retail price to be $105.99 with free shipping (after I received the bill from them). The clinic, however, submitted a claim to my insurance for seven times higher amount than the retail price. After the insurer applied adjustments (cutting more than half), my responsibility came to $335.80, which is still over three times the retail price. I would agree if my share was approximately the same as the retail price after co-payment/discount from the insurance company. I understand that medical providers may charge different rates than retail stores, but the markup in this case felt excessive and left me feeling taken advantage of. It was especially frustrating because the medical care itself was very good -- it's the clinic's billing practices that were the issue. I would strongly recommend that future patients ask for pricing upfront for any medical devices, braces, or supplies. The doctor was great, but the clinic's billing policies made what should have been a straightforward experience unnecessarily stressful."
"This review is specifically about the Greater Washington Orthopedic office located at 1400 Forest Glen Rd., Suite 400, Silver Spring, Maryland. They were recommended to me by Patient First Urgent Care, but based on my experience, I cannot recommend them. I have never been able to schedule an appointment with this office, despite making at least eight separate calls and leaving multiple voicemails. This has been one of the most frustrating and unprofessional administrative experiences I have encountered with any medical provider. I was given conflicting information by different staff members about what was required to make an appointment. On one call, I was told I needed specific information from my insurance company. On another call, I was told that the person who gave me that information was mistaken. Instead of helping me schedule an appointment, I was transferred to a phone line that repeatedly disconnected. When I called back and explained the issue, I was transferred to the same nonworking line again. I left three or four voicemails, each promising a return call, but never received any response. Scheduling an appointment is a basic and fundamental function of any medical office. The inability to schedule an appointment or return calls after repeated attempts raises serious concerns about the organization and responsiveness of this location. If a practice cannot reliably manage communication at this level, it does not inspire confidence in their overall operations. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend the administrative operations of this Silver Spring location."
"We had a good experience with the doctor, but our interaction with the billing staff was pretty scarring. The billing person could not do basic math, and when I pointed it out, she hung up on me without resolving the issue. Keeping bloated, incompetent staff is likely why they charge $1000 for an ankle boot."
"My family has dealt with Dr Evans for a surgery and though he did a great job, my complaint is solely for his office/front desk staff. This is who you will have to deal with a lot after the surgery cause we only see the doctor once a year for literally a couple of minutes. Dr Evans after the surgery has indicated that antiobiotics have to be taken for a couple of years after knee replacement surgery to prevent infection when going to the dentist. Their phone system is not great and have to make a couple of attempts to try to get through to someone because I have never received a return call when leaving a message. It's extremely difficult to call and get refills and they move you around a lot to different people. No one seems to want to to handle a refill prescription request. It typically takes me a week of calling and messaging to get someone to send the refills to the pharmacy. I just tried this past Friday to call and spoke to someone on the phone to request another refill. We went to the pharmacy today and was advised the prescription request was not sent. The pharmacy tried calling but not able to get through to anyone to handle. I tried calling today and a woman named AK picked up and said she has 8 minutes left and she shut down her computer and that is not her problem, and for me to figure this out tomorrow. I was mid sentence when she just hung up on me. It's crazy that getting a refill prescription that the doctor advised you have to take is so difficult for his staff to handle. Though Dr Evans seems to be a good surgeon, his staff at the office is just a nightmare to deal with. My mother's after care surgery was not organized. Typically after the surgery, you are to have at home care prior to starting PT. When I asked Dr Evan's coordinator about this she had advise the hospital will schedule that. My mother's surgery was scheduled many months in advance and after her surgery, when I asked about the at home care the hospital nurses and coordinator advised that Dr Evan's staff never informed them of that and it was too late to schedule anyone because all the at home PT Staff/ therapist are busy and have been scheduled with others already. Our PT therapist was shocked to find out that my mother was not provided any in-home care for PT for the couple of weeks after the surgery. Please beware that you have to deal with the office staff a lot and they are not helpful at all."
