"Saw Dr Mayer today, he is absolutely AMAZING! Very personable, super smart, listened to everything I said. I really felt heard. Im really glad I found him and he was accepting new patients. I feel fortunate he is my doctor. Very good bedside manner, and made me feel immediately comfortable. His staff is grest, Caitlin (sp) was superb. His x ray tech, superb. You can't go wrong with Dr Mayer. Hes awesome."
"Everyone was so polite and concerned while I was there very limited amount of waiting. Dr. Meyer has been treating me for about a year and he's one of the most professional doctors I've ever been associated with. Is associate Dr. Milford Marchant who I started with on this program is the most first class doctor you could run into you can totally trust his opinions and diagnosis."
"Everyone was very nice, professional, pleasant and very helpful. I forgot my cane that day (left in car). The young lady got a wheelchair, pushed me to radiology, after radiology i was pushed to vital sign area then to exam room. After my visit i was pushed to my car on the parking lot by staff. That never hsppened to me before. I was very nervous for 1st visit, the orthopedic nurse allayed my anxiety. She and the physician were very nice. I saw Dr. Dempsy who gave me an injection. Explained everything prior to injection and he and his med-tech was very good afterwards."
"I truly wish I could give this office five stars. If I were reviewing only my experience with Dr. Mayer, it would absolutely be a five-star review. Unfortunately, my experience with the call center staff was so distressing that I cannot. I began seeing Dr. Mayer in March 2025 for a large Baker's cyst. He was gentle, attentive, and took the time to listen to my concerns while also being educational and thorough. We completed imaging and testing, and while the root cause of the cyst was unclear, he drained it and provided clear guidance: if it returned and became swollen or warm to the touch, I should come in as soon as possible. Six months later, the cyst slowly returned but was manageable--until today. I woke up unable to put weight on my leg. I had to go down the stairs on my backside while carrying my 16-month-old daughter. As a stay-at-home mom who also works evenings caring for children, being unable to walk stairs, bend, or lift my baby is simply not an option. I called the office hoping to be squeezed in for drainage. I was told there were no openings and the soonest appointment was three weeks away. When I politely asked how I should manage the swelling and pain in the meantime, I was dismissively told to go to urgent care. When I asked whether urgent care typically performs this procedure, I was told, "I don't know--you'll have to call and ask." I did exactly that. Every urgent care I contacted said they do not perform this type of procedure. At that point, I resigned myself to the idea that I would be struggling for the next three weeks. About three hours later, I missed a call from Dr. Mayer's office with a voicemail instructing me to call back, but no additional information. When I called back, I was told a message would be sent to Victoria to return my call. Shortly after, I received another call informing me that the original call had been to see if I could come in at 3:15 that day. I was relieved. I asked if I could call back in five minutes to arrange a shift change at work and was told that was fine. After securing coverage, I called back immediately and spoke with a different representative who was abrupt and unkind. After explaining the situation again, I was transferred to Dr. Mayer's office, where I spoke with another staff member who seemed unaware of the appointment entirely. After once again explaining everything, I was told, "Oh, so you can make the 3:15," in a dismissive tone, and then scheduled. Only then was I told the appointment was at the Annapolis location--not Waugh Chapel, the office I had been calling all day. No one had previously mentioned this. Unfortunately, that location is over 30 minutes away. Given that I had to pick up children from school, transport them, bring my own two children along, and still make it to work afterward, this was simply not feasible. When I explained this and asked if I could be contacted in the event of a cancellation tomorrow, I was cut off mid-sentence and hung up on. This entire experience took up my entire day and left me with no answers, no guidance, and no support--despite being in severe pain and trying to care for my children. The lack of communication, empathy, and professionalism from the call center staff was shocking and deeply upsetting. I understand that many of these issues exist on a larger, systemic level. American healthcare is a for-profit system, and I recognize that schedules are often built to maximize volume rather than leave room for urgent situations. Still, as a patient, it is incredibly frustrating to be explicitly told by your physician to come in immediately if symptoms return, only to be told by the administrative team that the soonest available appointment is three weeks away. Three weeks is not "immediately," especially when the condition affects basic mobility and the ability to care for young children. Dr. Mayer is an excellent physician, but the administrative experience made an already painful and overwhelming situation far worse."
"I had an amazing experience at MedStar Orthopedic Waugh Chapel! Dr. Dempsey and his team were professional, kind, and truly cared about my recovery. Dr. Dempsey took time to explain everything clearly and made sure I felt confident in my treatment plan. The entire staff--from check-in to follow-up--was friendly, efficient, and compassionate. Highly recommend Dr. Dempsey and the MedStar team if you're looking for top-notch orthopedic care!"
"The clinic side was outstanding--10/10. However, the physical therapy side was a complete disappointment--0/10. The "removable splint/cast" was poorly made, something my 10-year-old could have done better. We waited from 9:07 to 10:22 for this, only to receive something that looked cheap and sloppy. The colors don't bother me, it's for a kid. When I expressed my concerns, I was asked if I wanted it redone--why would I trust the same person to do it again? The manager wasn't available, but I am expecting a call. Highly disappointed. Update - Yes, our visit was at Waugh Chapel- 2401 Evergreen Rd. Shocking, I know, and I already filled out the feedback form."
"Thank you to Medstar Orthopedic at Waugh Chapel, I tore my Patella Tendon and need to get started fast. I called at 8:00 am this morning and was able to be seen today. They got the ball rolling in no time. Great friendly staff, beautiful and very clean location. My doctor was friendly, informative and did a great job. Thank you again"
"This was my first visit to MedStar. Everyone was great! I had to unexpectedly bring my two young grandkids with me and was pleasantly surprised by the staffs patience and kindness towards me and the children. Shout out to Mario who even played "babysitter"while I had X-rays done. I would definitely recommend MedStar to anyone needing an orthopedic doctor or pt. Thanks to everyone that helped me have a great visit!"
