"Very unprofessional staff. Went there with my mom for her appointment at 12:16pm and was told that since she was 15 mins late they will see if Dr Silver will see her. Waited 45 mins without anyone informing me of anything. I asked again and another girl said she had sent a message to the doc and is waiting for his response. Waited another 30 mins and got up and asked again and was informed that my mother wasn't even registered and we had to reschedule since the doc had to be at the OR, after waiting more than an hour! The doctor might be good but his staff sure isn't!!"
"Never got to see the doctor since he played "telephone" with me and someone in his office passing incomplete messages. I gave up, and canceled the appointment. There are better options. Problem is I am limping around with a torn meniscus in my knee and this doctor doesn't know because he never wanted to see me."
"I made an appointment with this doctor on 3/16 only to be told I would have to wait until 4/15 to see him. I understand appointments are not always available so I waited patiently for my appointment after having confirmed with his office which insurance I have. I even got his number from the list of providers my Insurance company emailed to me on 3/16 (because I know that before a doctor even asks for your name, they ask which insurance you carry). I received text confirmation from his office on 4/12 and 4/14 that confirmed my 4/15 appointment. When I showed up to the office, I was told that they do not accept my insurance. I responded with both the confirmation from their office and with the confirmation from my insurance that his name is on the list of in-network providers I was given. The receptionist Kristen tried to be helpful and called to confirm but then insisted that they do not accept my insurance because the appointment was not made for the 6900 4th Avenue address that the insurance covers but was made for his NYU Langone office (meanwhile, the phone number on my provider list directs you to his NYU Langone office). So then I asked if I can make an appointment for the 6900 4th avenue office that my insurance covers to which Kristen then says is closed. So after expressing frustration, Kristen just dismisses me, gives me my card back and gives me no alternative, no apology and when I asked what recourse I have because their office maintained that they accepted my insurance and I waited a month, all she told me was that she'll pass it on to a supervisor and essentially shooed me away. Leaving the office, not having been seen by the doctor and having waited a month with a deteriorating condition, I called my insurance company to request clarification on what was going on to which they responded that he is on the list of providers because he was still contracted with them. This, despite the fact that the 6900 4th Avenue address he is contracted with my insurance at no longer exists as his practice or as Ovington Orthopedic Associates. So from what I understand, he is contracted with my insurance, is on the list of in- network providers, but doesn't provide care at the address he is contracted at. I even asked for a list updated as of 4/15 to confirm that no changes happened between 3/16 and 4/15. Alas, his name is still on the list, claiming to be an in-network provider, but offering no such service at the ONLY location he is at, which is NYU Langone Ambulatory Care at 6740 4th Avenue. This type of Insurance-Dr. runaround is absolutely unacceptable and dubious at best. No one from his office maintained any accountability for making the appointment or for not telling me my insurance was not accepted and when I asked what potential recourse I had, I was dismissed by Kristen. I now have to find another in-network provider and wait for another appointment to be seen while my condition further deteriorates. One would assume that in the triangle of healthcare (myself, my doctor and my insurance), everyone's goals are different. I want to be treated and get well, and my insurance company wants to make money. However, when assuming that my doctor's goals should be BOTH of those things, it has become clear that beneficence has been thrown out the window-- and only one the two (payment), matters. Hippocratic oath? Hippocratic Joke is more like it."
