"I have been seeing Dr. Shein for 10 years for my back and my hip and could not have asked for a better doctor. In fact, I moved to Nevada but still choose to continue my care with him in New York. His knowledge is incredible and unlike most doctors I've seen prior to going to him, he looks at the whole body, not just the problem area. He also takes the time needed to explain everything in detail and in a way that makes it easy for me to understand. He is beyond compassionate and patient and I will be extremely disappointed if he ever retires. I trust him wholeheartedly and would very highly recommend him to anyone with orthopedic problems. I am beyond thankful for his great care throughout the years."

"I can't believe I haven't posted a review for Dr David Shein before now. I first started seeing Dr Shein in his Manhattan office around 2015 or so. I experienced some back issues and my GP refused to send me for an MRI chalking it up to "an aging back," as he's so indelicately put it. He just wanted to send me for PT. I had to become my own advocate and insist. He said If I wanted to waste the doctor's time, he would send me to an orthopedic surgeon and If they wanted to send me for an MRI, they could do it. The best thing he ever did was refer me to Dr Shein. He ordered MRI, X-ray and all tests needed and it turned out I had fractured my spine but somehow miraculously the bones had fused and healed. His demeanor, the way he spoke, was as if he was teaching you and he even called his staff in to listen and learn. He showed how much he loved and cared about his profession. I became his loyal patient after that. Needless to say I sent my GP and update which to which he never responded and I learned he retired less than a year later. But Dr Shein is not your regular doctor. His method of practice is different I promise you from any you will ever visit. He dictates the findings of your visit st the end of each visit into a recorder. Detailed information. He has the most delightful South African accent and is pleasant and charming. But forget all that. He knows what he is doing. He is top-notch in his profession and can run circles around others in his field. After working in the renowned Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan, his son left them to work with his father because no doctor there could match what he would learn working with his dad. During covid Dr Shein stopped practicing in Manhattan which was a convenient 20-minute trip from my job. I would have to see him at his Bronx Water Place Towers Office, which is in a state of the art beautiful building. But I don't drive. To get there would mean taking a day off, taking a bus, 2 trains, then either a cab or jitney to his office. I didn't hesitate to do exactly that. This is how good this doctor is. I wouldn't dream of changing him even when I had to take a day off every week for 4 weeks when I had to get orthovisc gel shots for my knees. Unfortunately, the office stopped taking my insurance. And it proved to be too costly to keep going. I asked his office assistant Tanya, who is incredibly efficient, to please let me know whenever they start accepting my insurance again because I will run back. I already had one failed experience trying to find a new doctor and I'm still looking. Dr Shein was able to treat both knee and back issues and even though the only thing bothering me over the past few years were the knees, I would still see him annually to check my back. I doubt I will ever find a doctor like him skilled in both areas. Please start accepting The Empire Plan (NYSHIP) United Health Insurance again Shein Orthopaedics And thank you Dr. David Shein. You were the doctor I never knew I needed."

"Cattle call! mobbed Office! no real individual concern, all about money. Overbooked. son an amateur. Hip replacement 2 1/2 inch short leg. Back surgery instead of minimally Invasive surgery which was all that was necessary, fused 11 inches of my spine. live with never ending pain. Pleasant talking, sounds like he knows what he's doing, but he's only after money money money no concern for patient. Do not let this man talk you into unnecessary back surgery, it's all about the money. Ask questions he'll never volunteer to explain."
