"My husband was referred to Dr. Pekkerman (Brain) by his PCP due to severe pain. At the initial visit, Dr. Pekkerman recommended physical therapy. Unfortunately, after starting PT, my husband's pain became significantly worse--to the point where he could not sleep at night. On 1/19/26, I called the office first thing in the morning because my husband urgently needed help. I was told the doctor could not come to the phone because he was busy with other patients and that he would call later. I called again later in the day and was given the same response. The doctor finally called in the evening and said he would order an MRI. When I contacted our insurance company, I was told the MRI was submitted as non-urgent, despite my husband's severe and worsening pain. At that point, I contacted the office again and was given constant runarounds--being told to call radiology, then being told to call insurance, then being told to call the doctor's office again. Radiology had no information, and insurance confirmed that the doctor's office had not submitted sufficient documentation for approval. I spoke with a staff member named Jennifer, who was extremely rude and unhelpful. I also spoke with the medical manager, who she showed no concern and made it clear they were unwilling to help. I repeatedly explained that my husband was in severe pain and needed urgent care, but no one took responsibility or showed compassion. This office showed zero concern for a patient in serious pain. We felt dismissed, ignored, and completely unsupported during a very stressful time. Based on our experience, I would not recommend this practice to anyone who expects timely care, proper follow-up, or basic empathy."
