"Dr Cross is the best GI dr I've ever seen for my crohn's disease. He is understanding, listens to my concerns and incorporates his medical knowledge with my wants and needs. Appointments are never too far out like typical GI drs. I definitely recommend him and PA Heather."
"This is Jamie's husband. We came in because my wife is in labor and these people told me to go wait in the waiting room until they get her a room. The girl is in labor going through hell by herself in the damn hallway. We were told this was the best hospital to give birth at. We were lied to badly. I have two other children with my ex and have never been told to wait in the ER waiting room. I strongly do not recommend this hospital for any reason especially not to give birth"
"Today I had to go to Mercy for an MRI guided biopsy on both of my breasts. I just wanted to say how kindly I was treated thru this entire procedure. The nurses/techs showed great compassion & made me feel at ease. Thank you Mercy Hospital"
"I found out in June 2025 I had a hernia. I decided to go to the top specialist who uses the De Vinci Robotic System, Dr. Thomas Swope. I saw him a few months later, and he could not do surgery until the middle of December. I wore a hernia belt in the meantime and my life style was drastically cut back. I dealt with constant pain everyday. Going into surgery at Mercy was interesting especially the use of the robotic machine. I felt very peaceful the morning of surgery and before I knew it I was in post op. I had come prepared because I knew I would be staying overnight due to copd from asthma and pulmonary fibrosis from post radiation treatments years ago. I had a private room on the 14th floor with a view of Hopkins and a beautiful Sunrise. Who really sleeps when nurses and techs are seeing you every 2 to 4 hours. I put my total trust in Dr. Swopes years of experience. Later, he spoke to me via phone and said the surgery was uneventful. I did read his notes on MYCHART, as I had multiple hernia's. That sort of freaked me out, yet again my trust was in Dr. Swopes technical knowledge. It takes 4 to 6 weeks to recover, currently, I am feeling better each day. I wear my hernia brace for the full 6 weeks. I seriously would not change specialists and feel very satisfied with my choice. My plastic surgeon Dr. Bernard Chang at Mercy referred Dr. Swope. Dr. Swope is known worldwide for his expertise and he is direct with his explanations and getting down directly to surgery with no dilly dally. He is professional in his field and a very busy man working from multiple locations besides teaching the De Vinci Robot. I am most appreciative for his time a dedication for saving and healing people in my condition. Thank you Dr. Swope."
"One of the best hospitals in Baltimore. I recently spent over a month in Mercy and have nothing negative to say at all, the staff are phenomenal from dietary, housekeeping, physical therapy and nursing they are all compassionate, attentive and caring. The food is even excellent. I will be having bilateral hip replacements in a few days and will update my review after. I am switching my primary care Dr. To Mercy and will be receiving all of my medical care from there."
"I have a brother there that has been admitted and he has severe edema. They have been trying to discharge him without the edema gone as it's getting worse. They keep sending the wrong food to him and he hasn't had a meal that is appropriate. He can't order outside food as no one is willing to go downstairs to get it, so what is he suppose to do? Stay hungry and not eat as he is fighting through his illness? After receiving dialysis treatment they still wanted to send him home with the edema without his physician knowing. I'm having a hard time trying to understand as the competency of the staff. The next step is to go and speak with the COS or discuss it with a news station regarding the care of patients."
"I had my first baby at Mercy in 2024 and there were many positive aspects of my experience, but unfortunately the negative aspects outweighed them and I will not be using this hospital again. I have a history of sexual trauma which I made abundantly clear, knowing it would affect my experience of childbirth and pretty much none of the staff had any trauma awareness at all. I had done my research about what was and was not necessary during labor so I could minimize the touching of my privates. I arrived at the L&D unit 1.5 weeks late, knowing it was not necessary for them to perform a cervical check for them to admit me. The doctor who attended me in triage insisted that I needed one, threatening to send me home if I didn't comply. When I asked to speak to her superior she refused and left the room. Thankfully the nurse who was with us knew she was wrong and went and got the chief of the department. Unfortunately my experience with him was worse. He also attempted to force me to have the procedure and was completely belittling saying things like, "haven't you had counseling for this?" Finally when I threatened to leave and go to another hospital he agreed to admit me because I was 1.5 weeks late. By the time this whole experience in triage was over I was completely triggered and my labor was stalled. Also, they completely misrepresent the ability to use the tubs for labor. I wasn't able to get a tub room when I was admitted because they were full, which I understood. When I asked the nurse if I could switch rooms when one became available she responded with, "oh, no one is allowed to use the tubs. They require a one-to-one nurse which we don't staff. In all my years here I have never seen anyone allowed to use them." !!! They advertise the use of the tubs on their website and during the tour!!! I would NOT recommend this hospital to anyone with an interest in using the tubs or who requires any kind of trauma awareness in their care."
"I had a terrible experience in their L&D over 15 years ago and now again in their same-day surgery. I would not have a child here. I would not have an ingrown toenail removed here. The doctors are fantastic. Their office staff is great. Actual hospital staff, though, has been extremely poor over an extended period of time. 15+ years ago or so when I had my child there I left early to get away from the nursing staff and finally get some sleep. They are even worse now. My doctor is the best and I figured they'd had to have changed in all that time, but apparently not. The issue is seemingly persistent, pervasive, & entrenched. Recently, in 9/2025, I got talked down to and treated with open hostility in same day surgery. First I had a young political identitarian woman, a nurse or surgical tech I think, who tried to lecture me about my hairstyle as I was either just about to have the surgery, as in getting put on the table, or it's possible I was being taken from it, as the anesthesia I was under makes it blurry. I don't care about the nursing staff's socio-political opinions and the tone she took, like she was going to explain something to a child who was obviously ignorant, was so obnoxious. It was shockingly unprofessional, and would have been even in the office setting. But she had to be out of her mind to think it was appropriate going into or coming out of surgery! Basic civility requires that you keep your political opinions to yourself, including socio-political. How could someone reach a level in their career where they're involved in surgeries and not understand common civility? She doesn't know a thing about me and wanted to lecture me starting with whether I know the story of my hair. When I bluntly and with sharpness just said "yes" to stop her, she said that she guessed then I get to keep it. She then went on to awkwardly mumble some racial nonsense. Well I'm so glad I have your permission, Miss Lady. Then when I was woken up from general anesthesia the nurses there were furious with me and I had done nothing but sleep! I woke from anesthesia to two angry women leaning over me, one on each side, one of them snapping "Wake. Up. Wakeup!!! Do you hear that alarm?! That's YOU!" like I had some control over it. The one went on a bit about it. I eventually groggly said I didn't get much sleep at all last night, and she said angrily, like she was talking to a naughty child, that I needed to make sure I got to bed on time. I said I couldn't because my doctor gave me that stuff to drink to make me go to the bathroom. I shouldn't have made an excuse at all, but I was disoriented because of the anesthesia and I couldn't even see straight yet. She told another nurse accusingly "SHE didn't get enough SLEEP!" Then they talked loudly about the things they would have to do to get me out of there, and it was clearly a massive burden and frustration to them. I had terrible gas pain after the surgery and asked for Gas-X. At first a nurse tried to gaslight me that it was surgical pain, saying, "That's NOT GAS. You just had SURGERY" with naked contempt. When I persisted, she then told another nurse, standing no more than 4 ft from me at most, "NOW she wants a GAS-X." As though I had been demanding silly things for hours and this was yet another mind-blowingly silly request. Then she sighed and said, "I guess we'll have to get it for her!" They continued to speak with open contempt and resentment towards me when all I'd done was sleep and apparently not breathe well while I was sleeping. They openly complained to each other in front of me about my prescriptions and everything else they had to do, all with intense resentment, all within 5 feet of me. They did not stop at any point, until finally a transport person came to take me to my car. From part of what they were saying they were upset about the time because they were supposed to be able to go home. Sounds like an internal problem that is persistent enough to cause nursing staff to behave like this, and I suspect management is not respecting their work-life balance."
