Dr. Raymond Walls

"My wife and I are in our 70s. She studied dance but she's not very tech savvy so I'm making this review. We were introduced to Dr. walls by a friend. My wife heard about him from two other patients she met in physical therapy. She was afraid and put off replacing her ankle for two years. In the end the pain drove her to get a replacement ankle. Dr. Walls is an excellent doctor. He told us what to expect, and everything was exactly as he predicted. In fact, my wife healed a little faster than he predicted. Dr. Walls studied her x-rays and met with her several times. He was never impatient and never tried to pressure her. We had seen another doctor and he was pompous and tried to pressure my wife. When Dr. Walls operated the operation was three hours and afterwards we spent the night in the hospital. Dr. Walls came to visit my wife even though he'd been working for 13 hours. Walls has a very nice bedside manner, he's very charming. He instilled confidence without bravado. He told us exactly what to expect and what to do post operation. The staff at NYU was also very helpful and gave us training on getting in and out of bed and using a walker and wheelchair. You might think there's nothing to it, but you would be wrong. There is a right and wrong way to do everything. I rented a hospital bed so that my wife could keep her leg elevated all the time and I helped her to take a shower. The bed helped a lot. If you can make it happen do so or get a new bed that lifts your head and legs My wife was stuck in bed for about three weeks and part of that time had pain but now it's as if she never had the operation. Before hand, she was always in pain and always had difficulty walking, especially up and down stairs. Her bones were touching each other and it hurt a lot but now that she has this new replacement ankle. I haven't heard her complain once except about me and the way I leave my shoes by the door. None of this would be possible without Dr. Walls. He gave her the confidence to proceed and he did everything that he said he was going to do plus more and he did it in a nice way. He really is a great guy."

"I suffered severe fractures of the calcaneus (heel bone) after an 8 meter fall. Both my left and right heels were flattened. Dr. Walls was able to reconstruct my heels in their anatomical position. If I didn't find him I don't think I would have ever been able to walk normally again. He is the only surgeon who could have repaired my feet in this way. I can say with certainty that Dr. Walls is one of the best foot and ankle specialists in the world. My recovery thanks to him was almost miraculous."

"I am a professional ballet dancer who was dealing with posterior ankle impingement that significantly reduced my range of motion for over 2 years. Dr. Walls corrected a previous provider's misdiagnosis, immediately identified the issue, and promptly scheduled an ankle arthroscopy/debridement. The surgery went as planned. I was kept out of a boot and was able to return to ballet class two weeks after surgery. At the six month mark there was residual swelling, so Dr. Walls did a cortisone injection which was successful (a previous injection from a different provider had not been successful). I am now almost a year and a half out from my surgery and have maintained the full range of motion. Dr. Walls and his team exceeded my expectations. His firsthand experience in the professional dance world makes him an amazing provider for dancers who require nuance and delicacy in foot/ankle care."
