Testimonials
"Dr. Murtaugh is truly an exemplary physician. After experiencing an automobile accident that left my back with excruciating pain, Dr. Murtaugh quickly provided me options for relief and explained, showing me my recent MRI the current state of my situation. What made me realize the extent of my injury was the MRI visual he patiently explained. I really appreciated that as I get a better understanding when visuals are used to communicate with me. This made my situation very clear to me. He also, then explained my options for recovery. Those options included me having to do the work necessary to help myself. He provided me the road map but specified I had to commit to put in the work for own wellbeing. So simply, in my experience the level of care and compassion Dr, Murtaugh provides is honest, detailed and transparent. To me these are important attributes that sets him apart as an exemplary physician. Overall, for me, it's because he genuinely cares, that I trust him with my care."
"The injections he did in my spine were horribly painful and did not help my pain. When I called to get my records to move on to another doctor, the office did not respond or produce the records I asked for despite my making multiple calls. I went to pain specialists in Bethesda, and not only were their injections completely tolerable, but, they improved my pain almost completely and for the long term. The pain management office I went to in Bethesda gave me medication to take before the procedure to relax me and dull pain. Dr. Murtaugh did not care about how excruciating his shots were and thought you should just bear it. There was never any reason to suffer horribly in hopes of finding relief. It just isn't necessary. And, I have the legal right to my records."
"I have seen Dr Murtaugh multiple times and I have never been seen on time, waiting a minimum of 30 minutes up until and hour -- even for early morning appointments. His office also does not answer the phone or return calls for appointment requests, even after multiple calls. He offers little help for spine problems and I would not see him for any issue related to this again."
"He is a excellent doctor. His has very good sense os humor that make you relax and feel he has your best intersat heart. I would recommend his any that have problem that he can fix."
"Dr.Murtaugh is very easy to talk to. He cares about his patients and makes them at ease.He answer all and any questions. You leave your visit with just a little smile. I was given all the time I needed not rush. Thank you"
"My consultation with Dr. Murtaugh was efficient. He was personable. He listened and answered all of my questions in addition to providing requested documentation for necessary follow-on visits."
"**Avoid the Irving Medstar location at all costs - you will only have problems.** (This should be one star, but I had one other appointment here recently without incident.) Terrible experience at the Medstar Orthopaedics on Irving yet again, which is why I typically avoid the place. The doctors are great, but the admins are consistently unable to perform basic functions. Today, I got there 5-10 mins early, paid my deductible, and sat down. 30-35 mins later, I noticed a guy that came well after me got called before me (maybe a different doctor?). I waited another 5 mins then went back up to the receptionist. She just said "my bad," but didn't explain what happened. I said that I had to leave for a work meeting soon, but she said the doctor could take me now. I stood there for a couple mins then sat down. 10 mins later I really had to leave, so I asked the woman to refund my copay. She asked me to wait for a manager, and I didn't have time for that, so I left. So.. I paid for service I didn't get, wasted my entire morning, and will have to do it again sometime soon (if I can actually schedule an appt, which is always an adventure at this location by phone). Note: I am only writing this because I got an unsolicited text asking me to share my experience with my service today. I feel bad that Dr. Murtaugh is associated with this location, as he has been good otherwise."
"Dr Murtaugh is Great. The procedure he wants done the other party won't approve? It's costly to get the letters to him to show that they didn't approve it.The alternative will keep me from having Back Surgery!"
