"The Urology clinic was amazing I appreciate their help fully. The mental health clinic, no help I went for help and was told everyone in a appointment but heres a number...im not even going to tell a doctor youre here so he could help you...what are you serious, I just left. The ER...what made me really give up, I get my pressure taken fine then nearly everyone is staring at me I guess the lady in front let everyone know that someone that needs mental help is here isnt that nice. Then the mental health nurse comes I could tell she didnt wanna be bothered with me what confirmed it is her ask if I want to "Harm myself" I say no" she rolled her eyes im already feel uneasy. Then people are smiling and looking at me talking to other coworkers, one even laughed. I left, the nurse stops me and says "Youre waiting because a few people were ahead of you", then its "No youre next" seconds later. Youre a liar. I hate you people! I hope noone ever goes their for help because I cant imagine how many people took their own lives because of this place. Thank you to the Ladies in the Urology clinic for encouraging me to get help. This experience just broke me even more and honestly I dont want to step foot in another VA again ill just buy health care."
"This is the Room Service menu for people who are staying overnight at the VA Hospital on East 23rd street. You get to choose which different foods and beverages and desserts you want to make up your meal . But if you're on salt restricted or some type of special diet you can only have certain things . For instance, you can't have mashed potatoes on salt restricted diet but you can have rice. And you can have the Apple Crisp dessert or jello but you can't have the pudding I believe, on salt restricted. My roommate is here since 2 days ago and when i got here realized they hadn't taken a shower yet . As soon as I asked the nurse for a towel and change of pajamas and soap and toothpaste and toothbrush I was given a bunch of stuff promptly, (see pic) They gave 2 bottles of shampoo and body wash and lotion too. A towel, pajamas, toothpaste, toothbrush, earbuds, stress ball, eye mask were also given . But be aware, you may have to ask for these things . Be proactive. I don't know if it's just brought over if you don't ask. All the nurses were helpful and nice though. Feel like there aren't as many staff on weekends though. Also, you can call on your own phone to order the food, so bring your cell phone and a charger. The food is brought up within 45 minutes."
"I was there November 10 2025 for a kidney stone procedure. It was beyond exceptional. Everyone had their jobs to do and it was done beyond my expectations . I could have easily gone to Mt Sinai or New York Presbyterian. But all my records are with the VA hospital and since I been going to them for about 6 years now I feel very comfortable. After I was sent home two days later I had a setback ,in excruciating pain and literally living two blocks away from NY Presbyterian I chose to go to the VA emergency care. It was 2:30am and 7 minutes later I was on a bed in the Urgent care with meds in my system pain free. I remember all the faces but not the names in the Urgent Care unit. people are constantly thanking me for my service . But God bless them all at the VA. I am now back home resting ."
