"Bad news. Waiting time excessive. Taken on time. Then sat for almost an hour waiting for x ray. No technician. X ray rooms dark...no one staffing....waiting room for x rays full. Then had to wait another half hour for provider. Very poorly run department!"
"Broke my ankle. My PCP at GW is phenomenal and they referred me here. Ok, fine. The break was 2 weeks ago. GW Ortho only had time to see me yesterday. Ok, fine, it's not a "bad" break. Appt was at 3:45. 1. Received a call 11:15 AM. "We have some cancellations, can you come earlier?" No, I have too many work meetings, I'm sorry. 2. Received a call 11:25 AM. "Hi this is GW Ortho can you please hold?" - you called me?! And then I was not on hold and heard them yapping the whole time. So I hung up. 3. Received a call back 11:30 AM. "Hi, sorry about that. Anyway can you come in earlier than 3:45?" Again, no, I told your coworker this earlier. 4. Received a call 1:00 PM "hi, your ortho had an emergency and we have to cancel your appointment. Also we don't have anything available until next Thursday." Honestly it's just laughable. Moral of the story, don't go to GW ortho"
"I had a follow up appt I scheduled at GW Faculty Orthopedic 2300 block of M Street NW. I was treated like someone seeking pain meds. The Resident PA was rude. She would ask a question then interrupt. It was all bad and snowballed from there. One thing that was evident is no one wanted me to speak with a Patient Advocate. I reviewed the patients rights and found out I should have been informed that I could have asked for a second opinion. I did not knowthat was an option because the Dr visit was not to my satisfaction I still wasn't clear on what is actually wrongor my rights as a patient.. I spoke with three people. Left there with a phone number. No resolve on my injury. I know I must have look unkept. My sister died and I have been struggling with the grief. She passed in January this year in my home a total devastation. Hopefully staff can be trauma informed when dealing with patients each of us are different."
"The people in the office are SO bad. I am very surprised GWU management let their staff get away with the incompetence of their dept. Do not go to this hospital for orthopedics!!! You will spend days and weeks just trying to get thru to someone. You leave voice-mail after voice-mail, and when you do get ahold of them they give you empty promises if sending you an email and follow up calls that never come. My appointment for an injured knee happened last October. We agreed to schedule surgery in January. I call throughout October, November, December, January I couldn't get thru to Dr Deorres scheduler and NO ONE RESPONDS TO VOICEMALS! I finally went in in January or February and was like what is going on?? They said oh well we don't see that the Dr approved surgery for you. I was going to lose my mind. And I kind of did. This had been so frustrating. At this point I couldn't have the surgery in spring because I travel for months during the summer. So we scheduled the surgery for October. Here goes the phone games AGAIN. August goes by with no returned calls on confirmation of surgery and details needed prior and post surgery. In September I'm calling on a weekly bases. By end of Sept I'm calling every day. My appointment is scheduled in one week and I have no idea what is needed to prepare for my surgery or what's needed post op. Not even how much time off work I'm going to need. Go to another hospital, save yourself the headache, go somewhere where you are felt appreciated to be a patient."
"I got an ankle fusion done by Dr. Marc Chodos and I must say he knows what he is doing when it comes to operating on your foot and ankle. After the surgery and the many rounds of casts and countless months of orthopedic boot wearing I'm back in my regular shoe with minimal scarring and walking when I can and going to the gym every other day. If you injure your foot or ankle Marc Chodos is the man to go to. He will have you back on your feet in no time"
"Horrible service in every aspect. From the front desk to the surgeon I am disgusted at the lack of professionalism on every level"
"Terrible phone scheduling services with lots of attitudes and made up scenarios. They should quality control/record scheduling for this department."
"When it comes to getting scheduled pain medication (s) patient are over looked by the nurse on duty, they would like to argue with the patient"
