"I had an ankle OCD during sports and sought second opinions from Dr. Hsu. Dr Hsu walked me through my MRI scan and showed me where the lesions were. He explained the surgery procedures, recovery, and expectations for future ankle functions in detail. I had the surgery in March 2025. He did a fantastic job. I had little pain the second day post surgery and recovered very well. I am able to go back to running, weight training and the sports I did prior to injury."

"Dr. Hsu is great! His patient interaction skills are excellent. I dislocated a tendon in my ankle and tore ligaments. He explained my injury, my options, and long term expectations in detail. He made me feel both at ease and that I was the decision-maker in the plan of care. The surgery and first 6 months of recovery have gone just as he explained. He put everything back where it should be (and even improved an unrelated prior condition). I am now walking well without pain. Dr. Hsu collaborates well with physical therapists and patients during recovery. "Dr. Hsu operated on my wife's right foot a year ago. She interviewed three talented surgeons and is so glad she traveled the extra distance so that Dr. Hsu could perform the procedure. Before the surgery she could barely walk and was in terrible pain. A year later she can walk for miles without pain and is so grateful. She wears sensible shoes during the day and for long walks, but is able to wear fun shoes in the evenings and even danced in heels at a wedding this weekend. She did not think that would be possible. "I had my ankle reconstructed and I must say Dr. Hsu did an amazing job. Dr. Hsu was very friendly and professional and helped to ease my concerns with having the surgery. My scars are hardly noticeable with a very smooth cut which I was very concerned of the outcome look. My family and friends looks at the scar with amazement of how well and clean cut it looks. My ankle feels amazing and I am back to riding my bike and going on long walk with no issues. I highly recommend. Dr Hsu also makes you feel good as a patient when he recalls some of your family life situations and ask about them on your follow up visits and just seems to overall care about his patients."

"I accidently slipped off the steps and fell on the garage concrete floor and ended up at the Emergency room with complex ankle fracture. My ER doctor happened to have experience in treating patients with such fractures in the ER as he also treats patients on his reserve duty. The ER doctor, after stabilization advised me that I will need to see an Orthopedic surgeon about 10-12 days later, after the swelling subsided and provided me with an Orthopedic practice that he commonly refers to from the hospital. During my stay at the hospital, my sister-law found Dr. Hsu and called his office and we were given an appointment within 48 hours. When I saw Dr. Hsu, he immediately made us very comfortable with his detailed assessment and said that he would like to re-set some of the bones in the way that will help with my recovery later. Thus, at the same visit, he re-set the bones before my fracture would have started to heal and thereby avoiding more complex post-surgery rehab. He has an amazing staff and they setup my surgery two weeks later. My fracture was a very complex fracture and Dr. Hsu took the time to address each and every component of this complex fracture during surgery. Upon discharge, he was very thorough and detailed oriented. After surgery, when I had few questions and concerns, he immediately provided us the emergency appointments and addressed each and every concern that we had. Dr. Hsu followed up my post-surgery care and the fact that I can walk now is a miracle that he took such excellent care of me. Having the right surgeon means a whole lot when it comes to the success of the surgery and life after rehab. Dr. Hsu is very thorough, extremely patient, detailed oriented and a highly skilled orthopedic surgeon. He is truly an asset to Johns Hopkins Orthopedics and the very best ankle specialist! "Dr. Hsu is the best! I have torn both of my Achilles tendons. The first time I had a different doctor. He did a fine job with the surgery but the post-op experience was less than optimal. I was a number to him. This was not the case with Dr. Hsu. He is a tremendous professional who helped make the second surgery a wonderful experience. I never checked reviews for a doctor before.
