"I will be honest. I'm incredibly picky when it comes to Doctors, especially Orthopedists. Almost twenty-three years ago, when I was 18 years old, I was hit and run over by a large commuter bus. As a result of the accident, I broke my right ankle and badly damaged my left leg which eventually had to be amputated six inches below the knee. Orthopedists have been a part of my life ever since. I'm so thankful to Dr. Robert Christian (referred to me by Dr. Nana Sarpong) who suggested I see Dr. Van De Velde regarding my hip labrum tears. From the moment Dr. Van De Velde knocked on the exam room door, I knew I was in good hands. He smiled right away, shook my hand and said that he'd taken the past 15/20 minutes to review my chart. Great sign! I was referred to Dr. Van De Velde because of my labrum tears--the left which cannot be repaired in a arthroscopic way. Dr. Van De Velde listened as I went over my orthopedic history--related to my labrum tears and the other challenges I've had. He didn't rush me at all. During the physical exam he was gentle, concerned about causing undue strain/pain. He asked about my children and when I asked about his (I'd read his bio) he had no issue chatting with me about them. After the exam, Dr. Van De Velde went over some of the medical imaging and spoke to me in a way that I could understand what he was talking about. The Doctor/Patient relationship is so important. I felt safe with Dr. Van De Velde. He spoke honestly to me, but also with compassion. I realize that being a doctor is no easy feat--that time is limited, however--despite however many billion patients Dr. Van De Velde has, in the time I spent with him--he made me feel like the concerns I brought to him truly mattered. Because they do."

"Im currently one year post op , I had a Meniscus Tranplant and Acl Reconstruction done by Dr.Van de Velde and I feel so much better than before the surgery. Before the surgery Dr. Van de Velde took his time explaining the surgery and answered all my questions regarding It. The staff was also very helpful and friendly throughout the whole process. I can't recommend him enough!"
