"Very big difference in this hospital between the filthy ER and the incredible surgeons. Dr O'Mara fixed my broken shoulder, was engaging and dare I say it, humerous. Made check ups painless let alone the incredible work putting a plate and ten screws in. I wanted my girlfriend's recently broken elbow to go through him, but apparently that's not his forte. Understandable! When you do something well, keep doing it. I would 100% recommend him as your doctor and surgeon but I'd stay away from UCP ER as there's always dried blood everywhere."

"I would like to say that I have had a positive experience with Dr. O'Mara. I was looking for an Orthopedic due to the fact that the Orthopedic that I had moved to another location and went into private practice. Unfortunately, I ended up falling down my steps in my home and was taken to the emergency room at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center. Dr. O'Mara was my Surgeon. I am so grateful that I got him for my Surgeon. He takes his time with my husband and myself and explains what is going on and what I need to do. Most of the office staff is wonderful. The check in office staff, nurses that check me in to see Dr. O'Mara and my checkout staff are the best. They always greet me with a smile and assist me with whatever questions I might have. I have only had issues with one secretary. I always say to people you never know when you will be in a position to need assistance. It is important that you be mindful of how you treat people. Always treat individuals the way you would like to be treated. I have been in HR for over 32 years and the way you treat individuals can affect their entire day. Customer service is so important when you deal with the public and especially patients. I waited to do this review hoping the treatment would change but it has not. Where I work we are required to complete mandatory Customer Service Training once every two years. This might be an option if it is not already in place for your organization. We can all have bad days but you should not take it out on the patients. I live by the following from the great Maya Angelou: I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel. Maya Angelou I will continue to go to Dr. O'Mara because he is a wonderful doctor and that is what I need and want. Thank you all and be safe. Roslyn Jennings"

"I had my left shoulder repaired, torn Rotator from trimming trees, almost 10 years ago. Dr. O'Mara did the surgery, and I have been pain free since. I have had no restriction of movement or ability to do the things I want to do.Then in July 2018 I tore my right Rotator and Bicep muscle. I of course went back to Dr. O'Mara. He told me this was my left one on steroids, and once again he was right. He did the surgery and I am now in the three month period of healing. Once again I feel better than before the surgery, and I would say in the 1 range on a scale of 1-10 for pain. Dr. O'Mara says it takes about 6 months before you can begin lifting with it again, and feel pretty much like new. From my previous experience this is true. I would say though that along about 4-6 weeks after surgery you can sleep better, and a lot of the discomfort will fade. The key is physical therapy, and patience. You feel better but everyone heals slowly. He told me it's not about no pain no gain, or how tough you are. Pro athletes heal slowly as well. For me it's hard not to use it normally once it begins to feel better, and that's where the patience comes in. If you follow his advice you will be fine.
