Testimonials
"After waking up at night with right shoulder pain, I decided to see an orthopedic doctor. I chose one with good reviews, and despite some difficulty finding the office building in Columbia, I was able to locate it thanks to my GPS. Upon arrival, I was pleased to see a digital check-in tablet instead of a pile of paperwork. It was a relief to simply confirm my information, which was already in the system, and scan my medical card and driver's license. The process was quick and efficient, and since I arrived early, I was seen ahead of my appointment time. A young woman confirmed my details and the reason for my visit before I was taken for X-rays. Afterward, I met with Dr. Johnson. He was patient and professional, asking detailed questions about my pain and medical history. He provided me with helpful information and recommended an MRI. The office is a long drive, but the care I received was well worth it."
"Dr Wallace is extremely professional and knowledgeable. He explains thoroughly what my X-ray shows and takes time to discuss treatments, options, never trying to force me to go one way or another. He supports my decision and offers advice, giving me confidence knowing I can go back anytime to revaluate"
"Edit 2 (in response to CAO's): I've already shared my experience accurately and in good faith for the benefit of other patients. I don't have anything further to add. Edit (in response to CAO's response): I'm happy to clarify that Google permits the use of pseudonyms, and anonymity does not invalidate the substance of a patient experience. My review was written carefully and factually to describe documented medical findings confirmed by subsequent imaging and revision surgery. I did not expect a public discussion of my medical details--only acknowledgment of the concerns raised. I shared my experience so other patients understand the importance of thorough evaluation, post-operative planning, and clear rehabilitation guidance. -- Orig review: I underwent hip labrum surgery in December 2024. I later learned via MRI (July 2025) that the labrum had been left cut, with the expectation it would heal on its own. It did not, and I continued to experience significant pain and instability. Post-operatively, I developed numbness in my buttock and pelvic region, along with short-term urinary issues. These symptoms and my pain were downplayed. There was no clear post-operative protocol, no brace recommendation, and no specific guidance provided to physical therapy. During PT, I experienced a sudden jolting sensation that dramatically worsened my pain. After that, I was never able to walk normally again, and PT was no longer effective. I am not blaming the therapist; however, I later learned my hip capsule had not been properly plicated, which likely left the joint unstable during rehab. A subsequent surgeon immediately provided a hip brace commonly used for capsular instability, which helped prevent the capsule from slipping. Imaging before revision surgery revealed a capsular defect from the prior procedure and a missed FAI impingement contributing significantly to my pain. Given that these findings were visible on imaging, I was concerned they had not been identified earlier. By the time of surgery, the labrum was severely damaged and required reconstruction with a graft. I was told further delay could have resulted in progressive joint damage or a hip replacement. The recovery with my current surgeon has been completely different--far less painful, better supported, and clearly managed with movement guidance to prevent complications. Communication with the prior surgical coordinator was also difficult. Overall, I felt like a number rather than a patient. Patients deserve thorough evaluation, clear post-operative planning, and to have complications taken seriously."
"Dr. Wallace is an excellent surgeon who we have been going to for years for all our orthopaedic needs. He and his staff are extremely professional, patient, kind and compassionate and take the time needed to explain all necessary procedure options. I highly recommed him and his group, The Centers for Advanced Orthopaedics Associates of Central Maryland!"
"Dr. Wallace is my favorite doctor that I have seen here. They are all great, but he seems to really listen and take his time with his patients."
"Dr. Wallace is professional while being warm and engaging. He takes his time and never makes me feel rushed. A real asset to CAO."
"Rotator cuff surgery and Dr Wallace did such a great job. I highly recommend him. He is friendly and east to talk to while not seeming in a rush to be done. If I need anything else worked on, I will be back. Thanks, Doc!"
