"Dr. Berberian is in the upper echelons of Orthopedic Surgeons. My odyssey began over three years ago when I wound up in the ICU suffering from sepsis. I have complete neuropathy in both feet due to a spinal cord injury. Since I cannot feel my feet, I was constantly smashing them, breaking bones, getting cuts and open lacerations. I've become an expert at treating my own wounds but one became infected and that spread quickly through my entire body. This happened on a Friday night and the emergency hospital staff assured me all foot doctors and surgeons would be off for the weekend. Through some miracle, Dr. Berberian saw me the next morning and by Sunday, I was in emergency surgery. The infection was in my blood and had infiltrated my bones. I was diagnosed with Charcot Foot (neuropathic arthropathy - a progressive fragmentation of bones and joints in the presence of neuropathy) as well as Osteomyelitis - a serious bone infection that can be acute or chronic (usually caused by a bacterial infection). If things didn't go well, I was faced with amputation. Thankfully, over a series of operations, Dr. Berberian saved my foot and slowly reconstructed it. The man is a miracle worker. I am now able to enjoy a life full of mobility and the simple act of walking is a blessing I cherish each and every day. I would also like to call attention to Jazmin Cintron who runs the office. She is an outstanding human being and one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. Seeing a doctor with the prospect of losing your foot is stressful enough. Jazmin made my appointments as easy as possible and was delightful with prescriptions, shuffling my comings and goings, preparing scripts, handling all of the followups, and organizing surgery dates. Trust me, these are the people you'll want in your corner when dealing with foot and ankle injuries."
