"OMG! Dr Mark Fletcher is the best orthopedic surgeon ever. Before he did my left hip replacement I interviewed four doctors, within five minutes of meeting Dr Fletcher I knew he was the one. I am walking, working out, no pain, no problems and ready to start playing pickleball after seven weeks of my operation. He is such a great doctor and overall a great person. "I would never recommend Dr.Fletcher for any type of fracture of Elbow. In my case of a fractured Radial Head, he was negligent in his diagnosis and medical advice. I saw him on March 12th, 2025 with XRays taken at a Stamford Health imaging center in Darien. My PCP said that an Orthopaedic surgeon would likely perform additional xrays and put my forearm in a splint to avoid displacement of Radial Head. Unfortunately, I selected Dr.Fletcher since the Orthopaedist Surgeon (Dr.Vanbeek) recommended by my PCP was unavailable for a week.Dr Fletcher saw my xrays and diagnosed it as a minor fracture that would heal by itself in 4 to 6 weeks. He did not feel the need to perform additional xrays at his own facility nor cautioned me of the possibility of displacement of the Radial Head that would require surgery by another specialist surgeon. In the brief 5 minute consultation he gave me a sling to use and asked that I see him again after 20 days. I saw him again on March 27th. The new xrays showed my Radial Head fracture was displaced. Dr.Fletcher seemed surprised by the results and recommended that I see Dr.Soojian for surgery. This upset me a lot and I decided to see Dr.Vanbeek for a second opinion before agreeing to surgery. I eventually went through a complicated 2 hour surgery by Dr.Soojian on April 11th. The results in my left elbow's range of motion are unsatisfactory despite 3 months of Physical and Occupational Therapy. Dr.Soojian explained today that this outcome is partly because of the delay that occurred in performing the surgery from the time of fracture. He says that in order to loosen ligaments for a better range of motion in the elbow, I would need another surgery. I am NOT prepared to go through another surgery given I am 73 year old. In hindsight I would have been in much better position, had Dr.Fletcher taken more time and attention in examining the type of fracture and at least taken the precaution of additional xrays and putting a splint or a cast on my left forearm on March 12th. Please don't go by Dr.Fletcher's high patient ratings, if you have suffered a painful fracture of shoulder or elbow. I don't wish you to be misled by his patient rating. It could be reflective of treatment of minor injuries."

"Coastal is an overall comforting and positive experience. The staff treated me very well and was attentive to my needs. Dr. Fletcher is an excellent doctor who really knows what he's talking about. My shoulder was in bad condition but he explained the arthritis to me and that surgery was not necessary or the proper treatment. I really appreciated his honesty and attentiveness in care. An overall great experience and I would highly recommend him."
