Unique Pain Medicine

"Despite Dr. Mogilevsky's strong ratings, my experience was disappointing. I booked an appointment for abdominal pain through a "pain management" search on Zocdoc. The office experience felt unprofessional. The front desk initially asked me to sign a form authorizing them to share my own medical records with me; when questioned, they withdrew the request without explanation. The staff member handling insurance communication was dismissive and repeatedly talked over me. Wait times were long: about 30 minutes before seeing the doctor and another 30 minutes waiting for imaging paperwork. I did not receive a clear diagnosis. The referral provided was vague, resulting in an inconclusive ultrasound. An MRI was later submitted to insurance, but as a new patient the office had limited background information. After I contacted the insurance company myself and explained my history, I was told that only the doctor or her staff could verbally provide this information to complete the authorization. The office declined to do so. Two follow-up appointments were later canceled due to "emergency reasons." While my condition may not be life-threatening, I did not feel fully respected or supported."

"Truly avoid at all costs. Pros: -Nice enough doctor Cons: -Terribly rude staff as noted by other folks -Rushed into a cortisone shot with little time to discuss/think about it (but don't deny that I needed for the pain) -For my second appointment, I was supposed to come in to discuss my MRI results. They confirmed the appointment and I made my way to the office, waited, was put in a room and waited more, just for the doctor to come in and tell me they hadn't read my MRI results and couldn't do so that day. They then offered to give me another cortisone shot which was completely unnecessary at that time. So essentially I went in for nothing (did not get second cortisone shot). They billed my insurance for this visit which I consider fraudulent. -I called later on to have them just tell me my results and the rude staff kept saying I had to make an appointment. Then after arguing back and forth they had the doctor call me to give me the results that I had already tried to come in for......and they billed it to my insurance as a telehealth visit which I also consider fraudulent. -over a year after my appointment, I started receiving sketchy phone calls from Kotlyar medicine whom I had never heard of. Turns out Unique Pain medicine uses an out of network provider for the shots that they didn't discuss with me while rushing me into the process. Kotlyar charged $4,000 for the cortisone shot and then "graciously" accepted $500 as paid in full settlement. They are out of network with insurance which I was not told, super scammy, all the bills printed in an ink that faded over time, they keep pressuring me to pay in full by a certain date or I would be on the hook for $4,000 even though they didn't even tell me I had a bill for over a year from initial services. Unique pain is ok using Kotlyar and engaging in this scam to extort people. -Additionally the doctor at Unique Pain medicine never once brought up physical therapy until I asked for a script for it, because they clearly wanted to keep pushing pricey medicines (which are absolutely needed sometimes but not in this case and not administered by companies that only care about their bottom line and not your health) This happened 3 years ago but I assume that a number of the positive reviews have to be fake or that they drastically changed their business model, doctors, and values."

"Dr. Mann is so kind, caring always willing to accommodate, and provides such safe care. The anesthesiologists are so professional. The nursing team is attentive and know the procedure so well. You are there as a patient and out quickly. There is no long wait times they have very rapid turn around you can tell they understand you are in pain and want to relieve you in the safest way possible. I can't thank them enough. So impressed by their professionalism, attention, and genuine care."
