"These folks saved my sanity. I was in pain from herniated discs during a workout injury in my neck that were suddenly 100 times worse overnight. I was in excruciating, can't work, can't sleep pain from pinched nerves shooting severe hot iron type pain down to my fingertips. After horrible care from urgent care clinic and my own primary doc, Maryland Pain Specialists were amazing. From Amanda in new patient dept. honestly caring and going above and beyond in scheduling me asap, to Chelsea Hunt the incredibly knowledgeable nurse doing a thorough intake and immediately managing my pain with the proper meds after I'd suffered the runaround from several other disinterested docs, to Michelle getting an emergency authorization overnight from my insurance, to Dr. Grabow who gave my nerve block injection with such precision, everyone was super smart, caring, responsive and made me feel well cared for at a time in my life I was losing it. I'll forever be grateful to these people!"
"Let me just add a little experience with Dr. Panillios office. I've been there before, maybe a couple years ago and I called last month, I believe this is right and made an appt with a girl named Jessica i think. They went and told me that I was a new patient. So what I had to do like people work online, but it doesn't give you a lot of time to fill it out before it cuts you off and send you back to the front page. So the first appointment that I had to cancel, then i rescheduled for January 7th, 2025. The day of the appt. my truck wouldn't start so of course i had to cancel. I'm having surgery one march, the third for a problem with my left leg and had to get my injections before the first of february and the peep, the girl at the office lisa would not help me at all. I've tried for over two weeks to get an appointment and couldn't, and there's more doctors than just Dr Panillio there. No way was she helping. Very disappointed. So I have to walk around with a boot and also have pain in my lower right back. Never again, will I go to this office. Now I think I know why this girl Jessica left"
"Dr. O. at Maryland Pain Specialist is a wonderful, respectful, professional, knowledgeable pain specialist with impeccable bedside manners. I started with this practice group about a year ago and have nothing but high praise for them. The office staff at both the Bellona and The O'Dea office are very friendly and professional. Dr. O's assistant, Michelle, always returns my calls immediately and has been nothing short of helpful. Also not to forget the wonderful receptionists, front office staff and wonderful nurses at the Ruxton Surgery Center where I have received by back injections."
"Called on November 2nd and 3rd. Finally got ahold of someone on the 3rd. Was told that since I am a new patient they need to gather some information before scheduling an appointment for me. I also had to send over insurance information and did right away on the 3rd to Lisa. It has been over 3 weeks now and never heard back from them. Not really sure how this place can be considered a pain specialist when you can't even get in to get help with said pain. Should just have said you're not accepting new patients, would have wasted less of my time waiting and trying to find somewhere else for help. Terrible customer service. Would highly recommend seeking help elsewhere if you are new."
"I used Maryland Pain Specialist and the doctor was fine, the problem was billing for my copays which for some reason the office cannot take credit cards at the office, which I do believe I paid the co-pay at least once but now have to go through my cards to prove that I did. What is so frustrating during then entire time I was seeing the doctor at no time did anyone say that I was behind on my co-pays. I would have paid immediately. So on July 24th they said they tried to reach me and left a message which was impossible because you can't leave a messages on my phone. I was then sent to collections which is costing me another 63.00 dollars. I have spoken to the office recently for records and they were able to reach me easily, why couldn't billing reach me? When I made an inquiry to the billing department they very rude to deal with, this has left me very frustrated. I am very reachable and find that if the office had taken any effort to reach me we could have settled this easily, while I was seeing the doctor. Thry just needed to make me aware that I was behind on my co-pays, then ask, can we assist you in getting this taken care of. I tried to pay the copay each time I had a visit. Just terrible customer service. It's unfortunate because except for the billing department the rest of the was staff has been very helpful"
"This practice is terrible. It takes multiple business days to get a return phone call. My old pain management Dr retired, and I'm unable to get my records. These doctors won't even set an appointment with me, unless they see exactly what conditioner I was being treated for. I asked, wouldn't they want to re diagnose my condition anyways, so why do I need my old records. Again I was told no medical records, no appointment. If these doctors don't feel comfortable diagnosing your condition, you should probably look elsewhere, which I have."
"I've had pain management for 26 years (CIDP and 7 level cervical fusion) and Dr. Levin was the first to actually hear my issues and not just talk Rx. My 3rd visit/1st procedure (facet injections C3/4 4/5 6/7) provided incredible relief that NO ONE before even thought of or recommcuended. He made me feel comfortable where my previous experiences have made me uneasy. The office has shown great flexibility in appointments and the staff has been very good to work with. After years of inefficient pain management I finally found a doc that that's managing my pain. I'd recommend him to anyone with serious chronic pain issues."
"Communication Terribly Lacking. I would love to be able to review this practice, but I am unable because we never got in the door. While I realize that these are difficult times and we are all dealing with extenuating circumstances, I found the terrible lack of communication from this practice, in particular, the new patient coordinator (Ashley) to be completely unacceptable. Working from home should not prevent you from being responsive to patients in need. I feel that more than 2 weeks without a return phone call after having left several messages and even sending a couple of faxes is ridiculous! I was able to find another practice that not only responded on the same day, but also had my husband scheduled for an assessment and a procedure immediately. Clearly, Pain Management Specialists is a poorly run practice from an administrative standpoint."
