"Dr. Marc Luko completely changed my perspective on physical therapy after some unsatisfying experiences elsewhere. He was able to quickly identify the root causes of my pain and designed a home therapy program that was practical for my busy schedule, yet still delivered real improvements. Dr. Luko took the time to help me understand my injuries and set realistic expectations for my recovery, which made the process less frustrating and allowed me to appreciate those small steps forward. He also coordinated closely with my personal trainer to ensure my rehab and workouts were complementary, helping prevent future injuries. If you're willing to commit to the process, Dr. Luko will absolutely help you get better--I can't recommend him highly enough!"
"Dr. Luko is very knowledgeable well versed in PT especially when it comes to back rehabilitation. I've been working with him over the past 12-18 months and he has me getting back into things I love such as resistance training and golf. I'd recommend him to anyone looking for an excellent PT to help them through any rehab process!"
"I had been struggling with a back injury from snowboarding for over three years, dealing with pain that radiated down both legs and made even standing difficult--let alone doing what I love most, snowboarding. I was diligent with my prescribed PT and could manage my pain, but my back remained vulnerable, leading to multiple flare-ups that sometimes left me unable to do anything but lie on my stomach for days at a time. I reached a point where I refused to keep living like that. Determined to find a solution, I searched online for a McGill practitioner and decided to try working with Marc--even though I'm in Massachusetts and he's in Virginia. About a year ago, I booked a virtual evaluation with him, and despite the remote setting, Marc was incredibly thorough in assessing my condition and pinpointing exactly what I needed. Now, a year later, I have never felt stronger or more resilient! Not only have I returned to strength training, but I'm back to snowboarding--something I feared might never happen again. Marc is a pleasure to work with, extremely knowledgeable, and an OUTSTANDING physical therapist. I can't recommend him highly enough!"
"Before I met Marc, I was broken, I felt like I tried everything and was only getting worse. From the first appointment I started feeling better and now 7 months later, I am almost there. If he didn't offer virtual appointments after he moved, I would fly to Chicago to see him. The key to his protocol is that you have to put the effort and give it time. Progress isn't always linear and you may even have a setback, but Marc gives you the tools you need. He not only gets you to a better place, he helps you maintain it for the rest of your life. My only regret is that I didn't schedule with him sooner in my back pain journey."
"Where to begin! I ruptured my L4 spinal disc a little over a year ago. Consequently, I couldn't walk, sit or sleep without EXTREME pain, and developed a numbness and pain/tingling/burning sensation on the side of my left leg. The pain was so hideous I was pretty sure I had to get surgery, but horrified at the potential side effects. Nevertheless, I faced two options: back surgery (microdiscectomy) or PT rehabilitation. Marc, through verifiable studies, educated me on the full potential of my body to heal from trauma. I'd say had it not been for his education, I would have remained unfaithful of this possibility. I did, in fact, go for the natural healing route. Marc's contribution was critical. He showed me the way, kept my faith up, and offered a network of trusted professionals in the case I needed additional treatments to his. I went from not being able to walk more than a few minutes, to beginning to train for vball a year later!! I was completely terrified when this all started but have ended up blessed in convalescence given his guidance and affirmation of my ability to do so plus a lot of time and patience/faith. (I initially had a daily pain level of 9 but now down to a 4 - still healing) I also like that he is not just an integrated/holistic type of PT but also an athletic performance PT. It was the perfect combo for someone who prefers minimally invasive and natural approaches but wants to reach the full power of sports performance eventually. Thanks Marc!!"
"I suffered from a herniated disc at c56 c67 after a lifting incident - have been a competitive strength sports athlete for most of my adult life and active outdoorsman. I went to some of the top docs and PTs including HSS, which provided some help but no constant relief. My condition persisted for 2 years until I decided to look for a McGill Certified team who really understood the spine and how it can heal. After getting referred to Sarah from Mark, I spent a good 6-8 months working on addressing the problem. Sarah specializes on the neck and head and helped me identify the issues in my daily routine that were delaying recovery. She understood my level of activity and helped design a protocol to keep my condition under control. I had some pretty significant nerve irritation. I required 2 epidurals and had several surgical consults outside of PT, which told me that it wasn't life threatening and needed to be taken care of Non-operatively. Sarah was a godsend. After 2 years of never ending pain and irritation, we discovered the true activities that caused delayed healing and went through some iterations of training that avoided and corrected my issues. Now this process wasn't fast but the spine doesn't heal quickly, it's finicky and takes years in many cases. I can tell you that my MRI originally showed herniations and now, it's normal, a small bulge at most that's manageable and hardly stopping me from what I love to do. Forever indebted for Sarah's patience and empathy as we found a combo of treatments that worked. Go to these guys and give it time, be patient, listen to body and provide feedback - it will work."
"I found Marc about 4 years ago because I was specifically interested in a Stuart McGill trained therapist. They are not easy to find. I have had back issues over time. I went to Marc with some pain a number of years after a laminectomy. We resolved the pain. A few years later he again resolved a back pain issue and recommended I start working with a regular physical therapist. I found one and they spoke about the best way for me to work-out to improve my strength to keep my back healthy. This has made a huge difference! Marc is extremely knowledgeable, kind and a good listener. I am truly thankful I found him to keep my back healthy and me out of pain. He is terrific."
"I unreservedly recommend Marc Luko. I wish I had met him before I had my back surgery as I'm sure I would not have had one. Marc not only helped me with my recovery after I had a relapse on my herniated disc L4/L5, he got my strength back, I can do my normal activities and I can play intense games of pickleball. He thought me how to protect my back. I'm forever grateful."
