"This is in reference to the PHP department. After living with bipolar disorder for twenty-five years, having it end my Medical School training in the third year, and then bouncing from program to program and from one treatment team to another; I have found something much better at Harbor Hospital. The framework may appear the same on paper; however, two approaches/activities make for a huge benefit in obtaining both help and understanding. One is the check in with each patient at the beginning and end of every day. Together everyone receives the same run down of a list checking emotional state and consequential thoughts. This quickly develops patient rapport and the realization many of us suffer from the same problems/difficulties. Every other place I have been hides this and leaves you feeling alone no matter how many meetings/groups attended. The second is this effect leads at some point to a patient driven problem-solving group, only with encouragement from staff. Although this may not lead to a direct solution personally, it does provide similar scenarios, how they were dealt with, and outcomes. These two facts along with a staff that actually seems to care makes this program unique. I would strongly recommend at least trying it out. I would like to mention Lindsay, James, and Dr. A (psychiatrist) for a great deal of help as I have interacted with them the most."

From the moment I checked in, the staff was friendly, efficient, and attentive. The medical team took the time to really listen to my concerns and explained every step of the process clearly. I felt cared for, respected, and confident that I was receiving top-quality care. Dr. Dempsey was very knowledgeable, compassionate and thorough during the exam and I never felt rushed during this appt. Dr. Dempsey ensured that all of my questions were answered and he took the time to explain the X-rays (that were sent from another office) that coincided with the injury. The nurse had a gentle approach and was very attentive to the injury as she sized and appropriately fit me for the splint. This was the perfect combination of professionalism, kindness, and genuine concern for patients' well-being. "I had a very scary and unexpected trip by ambulance to Harbor last week. I was very impressed with the ER nurse who took care of me. Lovely blonde lady from New Mexico, it was around midnight. She had me in a room quickly and kept me calm throughout the experience. Unbelievably nice. Explained everything. Showed me a lot of dignity as a patient. I was admitted and was equally impressed with my nurse (from Howard County - Melissa or Nicole maybe?!) who cared for me as well as the CNA's who were so sweet. I received great care. I requested a room change due to noise and was accommodated. Doctors didn't engage with me very much but that's ok, the nursing staff had it! The sonographer and her student were very kind and gentle as well. The Radiologist (John?) was so kind and reassuring and nice."

After 5 weeks of PT and "Shockwave" treatment with another clinic, they used an ultrasound guided cortisone injection that allowed even faster results with PT and got me "over the hump""

"Back in 2022 my uncle had an aneurysm. They left him in medbay for close to 4 hours, then he got to the room, and no doctor saw him until my mom had to yell to get someone because his blood pressure went down to the single digits. nurses kept walking by him, and once the doctor came in, there was no time to treat it, so they sent him over to another hospital. I will never forget that day and how that hospital treated my uncle."
