"I have multi-level spinal stenosis and degenerative disc disease. Several months ago, I had four level endoscopic lumbar decompression surgery by Dr. Cho at Mt. Sinai Hospital. Several surgeons I had seen previously felt I needed a full open decompression surgery with spinal fusion . However, Dr. Cho offered me the minimally invasive endoscopic procedure and he was able to decompress four vertebral levels successfully. I had immediate relief of pain and numbness in my lower extremities and back which is a tremendous relief. Also, I am hopeful that with time, my left lower leg motor strength will improve. This will take time because I've had long-standing partial weakness due to nerve compression, so the nerves have to regenerate. I was hesitant about undergoing any surgery, but I'm so glad Dr. Cho encouraged me to go ahead, because he believed it could really improve my quality of life, function and also help prevent further progression of leg weakness. Dr. Cho was patient with all my questions, took the time to answer them all and thoroughly explain his thinking and the procedure he suggested. Additionally, his PA, Mark Henry was prompt in answering questions and providing helpful information. If you are contemplating spinal surgery, I whole-heartedly can recommend Dr. Cho and his team. I couldn't be more pleased with the outcome of my surgery. Thank you Dr. Cho!"
"My condition was extensive. I couldn't stand straight or walk. The pain was such that I had to exist rolled up and crawl to the bathroom. Dr Cho on my first consultation, after examining the Mri said that surgery was required, and I would need a hip replacement afterwards. The skill and professionalism displayed; the emotional support given by Dr Cho, his Cheif Assistant Mark Henry and the team was incomparable. In one month post opp I was pain free, bending, walking upright etc.. Actually too much and without a good rehabilitation plan. In 3 months, I could submerge my incision in the water and I was off to travel, biking and swimming...Too soon. I loosened screws and damaged equipment that had been expertly placed. With no reprimand, only compassion, Dr Cho and the team performed a second more elaborate 12 hour procedure. My hip has been replaced and I'm standing upright and walking without pain. I'm 77 years old and very grateful that I've been blessed with the care of Dr Cho and his team."
