Testimonials
"The staff are always courteous, friendly, and there to greet you with a smile. They seem to truly care about their patients. Dr. Schirmer has been so great and informative. He takes the time to listen to my concerns. He takes time to explain what is going on with me in terms I can understand. I have never felt rushed in a visit. I will recommend this place to anyone who may need the services. Thank you all for making me feel like a human and being so great!"
"Had a ganglion cyst surgically removed in 2012.. Only for it to come back 2 months later where I had it drained; it never came back after that (though they warned me it would). The scarring from the surgery was horrible. Took YEARS for my skin to turn from purple to pink again. Till this day I've never been able to put pressure on that wrist again. 14 years later, I'm having arthritis pain. Sigh. Man if I could go back in time. I wish I wasn't pressured to do the surgery. I wish they chose a less invasive approach after seeing me. Learn from me!! If you feel uneasy about it, don't let them push you into surgery. Seek a second opinion."
"Had hip surgery at Missouri Orthopedic Institute and had an amazing experience. Dr. DeFroda and his team were incredible, and everyone from pre-op through discharge was so kind and supportive. I felt truly cared for the entire time. Thank you for everything!"
"Expect a patient to wait 30 minutes to an hour or more to be seen by the physician they are scheduled with is grossly unprofessional. It shows a genuine disrespect and low regard for the client. Frankly, it reflects MU Hospital administrations belief that patients are sub-human. The requirements for patients to be timely needs to be reflected by a sense of urgency and valuing a patient's time as equal to that of doctors, in MU medical culture. Also, stop addressing patients like you the buddy, pal, freind for life."
"I just wanted to say that the walk-in orthopedic injury clinic is such a brilliant idea. It really fills a gap in the healthcare system. Imagine you're at sports practice and feel something pop. Before the clinic your options were 1) wait a month or so to get in with a sports doctor, or 2) go to the ER, even though it's not an emergency and there's not much an ER doc could do for you. With the walk-in clinic you can get seen immediately by a sports doc and get referred for imaging ASAP. You're not stuck waiting a month to learn whether or not it is still safe to practice. Brilliant. I hope other orthopedic groups follow suit."
"Whilst the world horizon has become dark and contentious, MOI in Columbia has undergone a wonderful transformation from what I experienced 5 years earlier. From the med. student who paused to show me the way, to the desk clerk who performed her duties cheerfully, I met a most outstanding orthopedic surgeon, Dr.Ma, who with the support of his knowledgeable medical fellow and friendly imaging staff, delivered me from smoldering uncertainty about my leg pain to a clear diagnosis and treatment plan. He explained my situation to me kindly and fully and left me fully assured. I cannot praise and thank him enough."
"I am not one to typically write reviews, however after my hip surgery this morning, I just know I need to. MOI is hands down, the most comforting and trustworthy establishment to take care of their patients. The staff is beyond amazing, incredibly helpful, and I've truly never felt safer. I felt like I was being high maintenance and demanding with all the questions I had and the help I needed, but they made it obvious that was not the case. Special shout out to my awesome nurses, you all are phenomenal and full of so much empathy, thank you so much!"
"I must say when I first arrived to the nurses desk on the third floor I stood there and they ignored me. I felt like I did not like the hospital where my wife had head a knee replacement but once I got in the room with her the nurse day she had, Megan I do not have her last night with me, but she has a very funny personality I really Speaking with her, and the way, she took care of my wife also when my wife was being released, Harold Took my wife down to the car. He was very helpful and very careful with her getting in the car. I truly appreciate some sweet people especially kind people. Below is a picture of my wife's knee I'm wishing her a speedy recovery and thank you all to The staff and anybody that was involved with my wife."
