"The one star is Is given because of star must be given. There are a few special people there, but I cannot raise the stars when that place is just not good to have your family members there. The good people there: Front desk, Miss Selena. Nurse Veronica. Those are two superstars heroes of that place. They will keep someone coming back for their next rehab rehabilitation. Otherwise, no one would want to go there with what I seen. There is no staff maybe one nurse nurses per floor. People are peeing their pants because nobody can get to them to take them from their bed to their bathroom. My uncle stayed there he had a hip replacement and shoulder replacement. He's a tough guy so he tries not to complain, but I saw him suffer. I was ready to lift him out of his wheelchair to carry him to the washroom, but those best to let a nurse come by. I asked the main desk area on that floor that he was staying at there were multiple different people there up to five people in that area wearing different color outfits so I don't know what department they were supposed to be for. I asked them for help. I saw many lights flashing. I told him I understand. They are not paying to have more nurses here that is severely staffed but my uncle really needs help. He hasn't gone to the bathroom in days and he's ready to go. They said they could do nothing to help me. They're not the nurse. I have to wait to the nurse gets to them and the nurse takes the flashing lights in order. That means he has to wait for 5 to 6 more lights on that floor. That is so awful what they are doing at that place into that place and that other people that are there laughing and talking cannot help you. Maybe you should take those jobs away and bring more nurses in because that's what you need there. I don't see what the other people are doing there. I will never speak highly of this place and I will make sure that no family member a friend will ever go there. You will suffer being there. To the public, it's smart to read reviews and I'm pleading with you to search more locations before you decide where you send your family to. Then go visit those locations talk with the person at the desk that you would like to take a look around if that's at all possible. And if it's not possible that could be understanding, just read the reviews of that place before you decide because we as the public tell you about our experiences."

"I recently left Alden after an almost 3 month stay. I cannot say enough good and enuf about how wonderful the staff were in so many ways - care, expertise, knowledgeable, respectful. above and beyond helpful, friendly, caring, and efficient. This made my healing and being there more tolerable and pleasant than I could have imagined. I would like to compliment Kait on her above and beyond consideration and knowledge. She even helped another patient who was visiting my room when she was there. Also I wanted to single out Gina, VAS and Wilfred from the 3rd floor who took the extra time to make sure I was well taken care of!! PT was excellent - I could not have had anyone better than Peter - he knew exactly how to get me from where I was when I came into Alden to going home with much more ability and confidence!! He told me exactly what I needed to be doing when I was not in PT during the day. He has a very good people sense & gave me much better therapy than ever!! He was working hard everytime I saw him!! Also in PT - Tressa is very patient in the very most difficult situations as I witnessed how she handled many situations explaining the best for patient or staff persons. She brings out the best in everyone. Ray and Jithu were terrific also. I would recommend Alden Estates of Evanston to anyone - I would be available if anyone wants to ask me questions or provide references for Alden! Alden has my contact information if needed. I am happy at home now!! Diane"

"I spent 4 weeks here recovering from a fall. This is an exceptional rehab facility. The building is lovely, with a number of public spaces on the first floor that can be used for relaxing with friends, playing games etc. and a well equipped sunny therapy gym. The food, particularly the soup, was good, on occassion excellent, with lots of variety. However, it is the staff that really make it exceptional. Without exception they were pleasant, responsive, knowledgeable and professional. They responded to my needs promptly and generously, never conveying the impression that my requests were burdensome or inconvenient. As other reviewers have mentioned the parking is limited but my visitors were always able to find a parking spot. I highly recommend this place for anyone who finds themselves in need of a skilled nursing/rehabilitation facility."

"My father stayed here and had a good experience. However, this past week, my uncle moved in for physical therapy after a two-week hospital stay, and our experience has been concerning. Regardless of need, every resident is put in a diaper, as staff can take up to an hour to respond to call lights--even for basic restroom assistance. By the end of the hallway on the second floor, there was a strong odor of urine. Despite being fully mobile and independent before arriving, my uncle was often put back in bed after lunch instead of being encouraged to walk, simply due to a lack of available staff. The staff also shamed him into submission to never leaving the wheelchair even when he wanted to walk with a walker or visit another area. Both Nurse Sarah and the Director of Nursing assured me staff would answer the call light better and remove the diaper. Nope. When we raised concerns to the administrator, Matthew Czajka, he refused to take my call. The only way he took a call was when we theatened to email the CEO of Alden. If you're considering this facility for a loved one, think twice. The lack of staffing and poor care standards make it a place to avoid."

"The Alden Estates of Evanston is in the luxury class of rehab/nursing homes, seriously I am so glad that I was able to convalesce at Alden. I was there for three months as I was recovering from a five metatarsal multi-fractured foot so serious that I had two surgeons and two surgical assistants operating simultaneously as they needed to install a four centimeter plate to hold together the jigsaw puzzle that was once my foot. I cannot imagine having better care, attention, physical therapy, nursing, doctoring...in other words the whole shebang was top flight. I had Parvit for my physical therapist and he was terrific, he was so encouraging, smart(very), and has an eagle eye, I consider myself lucky to have had him. Every morning I had breakfast in bed and the kitchen staff bent over backwards to make sure I was happy bacon and eggs every morning, in fact four strips of bacon every morning, the filet of fish was sauteed in butter and garnished with minced parsley and thinly sliced lemon. Alden even had tiramisu a few times a month, homemade and delicious. In three months you really get to see how a place ticks. The CNA"s and nurses are superlative I needed a bedside commode initially even though I was classified independent I still needed to have that tended to regularly, no pun intended, there are at least three certified nursing assistants at all times and more often than not there are four which is impressive and two nurses plus the charge nurse. I remember one night distinctly because they had two new admissions and a patient that needed to go the the hospital with all that was happening almost simultaneously and despite that the nurse was on time with my medication."

"I cannot recommend Alden Estates of Evanston highly enough. Under the leadership of Executive Director, Matt Czajka, this rehabilitation facility truly stands out for its exceptional care and results-oriented approach. My Mom has been through rehabilitation there twice, and each time, she has made significant progress thanks to the excellent staff who demonstrate not only high-quality care but also compassion at every turn. The accommodations are beautiful, and the food is delicious, making the rehabilitation process more comfortable and enjoyable. What sets Alden Estates apart is their unwavering commitment to excellence and customer service, not only for their patients but also for their families. If you're looking for a rehabilitation facility where your loved ones will receive top-notch care and support, look no further than Alden Estates in Evanston."

"I called four times today 06/09/2025 around 10:20am trying to speak with someone in admissions about short-term rehab placement for my mother. Each time, the receptionist--Rosie--hung up on me while I was still speaking. Not once or twice--four times. When I finally reached someone in admissions and explained what happened, I was met with a flat, dismissive "oh, OK." No apology, no concern, nothing. From the receptionist down to administration, the attitude was completely nonchalant and careless. When I brought it up to the admissions coordinator, she told me she was "trying to pick up the phone, but it just disappeared." But honestly, I don't even know how that could be the case--because every single time I called, the receptionist hung up immediately after I said, "Hello, I'm trying to speak to someone from admissions." She didn't transfer me. She didn't say anything. Just hung up. This experience made me feel very uncomfortable, very unsettled, and honestly alarmed. It gave me a really bad feeling about this place overall. If this is how they treat people just trying to ask questions over the phone, I can only imagine what goes on inside when families aren't watching. I would never trust this facility with anyone I love. Do not place your loved ones here. Families deserve better."

"My 96 year old Grandma, Despina is currently at Alden Evanston and it has been a miracle she gets to go back home on Saturday. The staff are all so pleasant, remembering myself and my family when we visit. My Grandma is very picky, but loves the food there and got used to the food quickly. My grandma has never played bingo in her life, the staff were able to convince her to come try, taught her how to play, and she won! This is now a story she tells everyone and how proud she was and loves bingo now. She especially loves her therapy staff and wants to take them all home with her. Thank you Alden Evanston for taking great care of my Grandma during this hard time for her!"
