"I accompanied my wife to this facility when she was in a very fragile and exhausted state. Despite this, we waited for hours with virtually no attention or proper follow-up on her condition. What made it even more perplexing was that there was no overcrowding or number of patients to justify this inexplicable delay. Unfortunately, the performance of some members of the nursing staff fell below the professional standards expected in a healthcare facility. We were told to wait for additional hours without any logical explanation, and no attempt was made to reassure my wife or seriously assess her condition. When a patient feels neglected and left without explanation, it raises serious concerns, especially in a place where compassion, human values, and medical ethics are supposed to be the foundation of daily practice. The experience was utterly disappointing. This raises a legitimate question: Where is the commitment to medical ethics and the professional oath that should be the cornerstone of this noble profession? And where is the administration's role in monitoring the quality of services and genuinely listening to the concerns of patients and their families who take the time to share their experiences? I sincerely hope these concerns will be addressed with genuine responsibility, because people's health is not an area where negligence or indifference can be tolerated. I am not referring to all hospital staff, but specifically those who were working at the time of my visit, particularly the nurses. My visit was at 7:30 PM on February 23, 2026. Only two stars for the doctor or doctor's assistant who showed concern and told them to come to her aid."
"I was taken by the paramedics to NorthWest General Hospital's emergency room last Friday. From the ED staff, ie; nurses, technicians, and physicians were AMAZING! They were very calm, caring, professional, and answered any questions that I had and they kept me in the loop by explaining everything that was taken place very throughly to myself and wife. KUDOS to the ER staff! I was equally impressed with the care that I received from the Stroke, Respiratory Unit. Dr. Austin and his team, including the Therapists were very knowledgeable, they actually care about my wellbeing, very thorough and direct, which I appreciated. They even took their time to explain to me precisely " what/ why" and any advice/suggestions offered. The nursing staff: Nurses Irene, Maxine, Nena, and the others that assisted me, along with the technicians: Selina ( I believe thats her name with 23 years of service), along with her colleagues, even to the Food Service delivery lady who was very thorough in explaining to me why she couldn't and wouldn't deviate from my diet plan for the safety of my health. Even the Housekeeping department were friendly and professional. I was discharged from NorthWest on Christmas afternoon and my wife is still talking about how she felt the warm feeling from the time she walked in to the main hospital 7 days during my stay, from the lady that greeted and checked her in daily to the Security staff was absolutely phenomenal! Believe me, I've had hospital stays in other local hospitals, where I thought I received top-notch service until I was transported to NorthWest Hospital, my 1st time ever being a patient and never a visitor, I realized what TOP-Notch / Professionalism really is thanks to this staff. Thank you and God Bless you ALL!"
"The staff there really know how to make a patient and family comfortable. From tne ER to 3rd floor nurses and a caring Housekeeping tech, & others were attentive and helped me though my moms passing seamlessly. Im Grateful my mom had her final few days there."
"My mother was brought to the ER by ambulance the night of October 5th. Once she was brought in the back during triage the gentleman initially was attempting to downplay everything I said about her symptoms and was even going to put her in the waiting room. It wasn't until the doctor examined her that he clearly saw something was wrong and had them find her a room straight from triage. Once in the back the assistant was putting chucks on the bed and one fell on the floor on the backside and she couldn't find more so she put it on the bed. I mentioned to her someone's blood was on the tray in the room and after 10 minutes I cleaned it myself and she told me she would do it but I didn't want someone to unknowingly to put supplies on it. So definitely lookout for cross contamination. Those experiences is why I took off one star. The staff in the ER were great even the initial nurse in triage when he tended to my mom in her room in the back of the ER. My mom spent time on the second floor and third floor and every one was great, so much so she didn't want to leave. The doctors, nurses, and surgeon always explained everything to me and made sure I cleared procedures. My mom spent 11 days there before being sent to Holy Cross and she was so disappointed she had to leave due to her insurance. I will say Northwest staff treatment of my mother gave me a peace of mind during that scary time especially since her network doctors kept dismissing her symptoms. I really believe they saved her life because she had a few life-threatening issues. I always look up reviews and initially I thought based on the reviews this hospital was going to be bad but I am extremely happy to report it was great. Keep up the good work because I know it's challenging being short staffed."
"This hospital is horrible held in the emergency department for 24hrs after being "admitted" & waiting for a bed. being given antibiotics but no support for the treatment left ama because they wanted to keep me another 24hrs for blood screening to come back just to find out it was drawn but never submitted for labs to come back long story short i was very uncomfortable in the emergency room with 3 iv's and not being able to eat or drink anything if I didn't leave for a second opinion I would still be there sick uncomfortable and receiving meds for an unconfirmed "bacterial infection in the blood". Choose another hospital i promise it'll save you time and money"
"I am writing to formally express concerns regarding the care my mother-in-law received during her recent admission through the Emergency Department. While she was ultimately admitted for a bowel obstruction, there were several concerning delays and lapses during the triage and early admission period that I feel warrant review, as they directly impacted her comfort and safety. An IV pump and fluids were brought into her room around approximately 11:00 PM to midnight; however, she was not actually connected to IV fluids until around 1:00 AM. During this time, one nurse stated she would check to see if she could start the IV, left the room, and did not return. Later, another nurse came in to initiate the IV but left the clamp closed, resulting in no fluids infusing. When she attempted to reassure me from the hallway that fluids were running, I informed her they were not, as the line remained clamped. She then returned, recognized the issue, and apologized. Additionally, when my mother-in-law asked what a "bolus" was, the nurse was unable to explain it. After the nurse left the room, I provided the explanation myself. I understand that staff may be busy, but patients deserve clear explanations about the treatments they are receiving. Finally, when medications were eventually administered, the nurse realized that my mother-in-law was supposed to receive Zofran and morphine 30-45 minutes earlier than when they were actually given, indicating that these medications were delayed or overlooked. I want to be clear that I understand the realities of healthcare staffing shortages, high patient volume, and long nights. I am actively in the medical field myself, and I have great respect for the work healthcare professionals do. However, these types of oversights are concerning, particularly in a patient presenting with a bowel obstruction who required timely IV fluids, medications, and close monitoring. My intention in writing this letter is not punitive, but to bring awareness to areas where patient safety, communication, and follow-through may need reinforcement. I hope this feedback can be used constructively to prevent similar issues in the future."
"I have never really had a bad experience here. They have always taken great care of me. Wait times in the emergency room can get long sometimes but that is the same everywhere. I will always choose to come here first before anywhere else. All of the nurses and doctors and other staff have been exceptional and kind."
"Prior to my surgical procedure on Feb 20, I had never heard of this hospital. I was overwhelmed by how caring and attentive everyone I encountered was. I had to stay overnight after my procedure and the entire process was smooth and very personable. Upon entering my room, the television was on and the screen said "Welcome Pamela". It has been a very long time since I felt like I was a priority in a hospital visit. If the nurses here are short staffed, like everywhere else, it never showed. And I received a handwritten card in the mail the following week. Thank you all for making this procedure almost enjoyable."
