Testimonials

Marc Schneiderman

"As a recent TKR patient, happy to share that my recovery to -date has been very measured and effective and has allowed me to regain normal function quickly. The twice weekly sessions were challenging and definitely bore results. The team approach with multiple therapists and tech personnel were always well coordinated and delivered in a professional manner. My thanks especially to Phanna Iamlek along with Mike Thorn and Mary Beth Roca for getting me back on my feet quickly, I will be back for the left side in the not too distant. Also, a quick shout out to Dr Ben and his invaluable guidance during my initial weeks of home therapy. Many thanks to all for a life altering effort!"

Dennis Chettiveettil

"I had a great experience at MedStar Health Physical Therapy at Olney. The whole team was friendly, professional, and very supportive. My therapist, Valerie Mulryne, is amazing. She explains everything clearly and really makes sure the treatment plan is working. I always felt listened to and confident in my care. Scheduling was easy and super accommodating. Jaclyn Williams was especially helpful and flexible with my schedule, which made everything stress-free. Most importantly, after my treatment I feel so much better and relieved from my pain. I highly recommend this highly qualified and experienced team!"

Corgi Girl

"Overall positive experience. The negatives are it is very crowded which can be distracting to patients and therapy staff alike, and for me I would have preferred seeing the same therapist each time. The level of attention and knowledge varied among the staff I was assigned to, although to a person everyone is very positive and presents a caring attitude. Special kudos to Natasha who was fantastic in her ability to multi-task while assuring the patient was well attended, and whose high knowledge and skill level were readily apparent. Also to Graen, who took care to monitor positioning of the patient while performing the exercises and making necessary adjustments. These helped ensure I was performing them in the most beneficial manner."

Dennis Sullivan

"I am a 20-year head and neck cancer survivor. Radiation treatment damaged tissue in my neck muscles, ear, tongue, mouth and throat resulting in swallowing difficulty throughout this time. I was hospitalized in November 2025 with aspiration pneumonia due to the swallowing problem. I was referred to speech therapy to improve swallowing and prevent aspiration. I was scheduled to work with Speech Language Pathologist Sandra Guevara at MedStar for therapy. Sandra was welcoming, friendly and well prepared for our first appointment The initial session was a useful assessment of my condition and capabilities. Sandra created a well-developed treatment plan and scheduled me for 3 to 4 sessions each week. Sandra was thorough in her explanations of the plan to inform me of the path to improve my swallowing. Sandra provided the "why" and "what" of the exercises, dietary choices and treatment devices as well as the planned outcomes. She partnered with me to keep me moving steadily toward the rehabilitation goals and monitored my progress to ensure I was carrying my end. Sandra demonstrated her knowledge, commitment, compassion and professionalism every time we met. She was flexible and adaptable to situations during our sessions to keep my treatment on track. Sandra kept a broad view of my condition to learn more about my other health care providers and the conditions being treated. Sandra recommended other specialists (dietician, otolaryngologist, physical therapist, enterologist) to assess or address outstanding or unaddressed issues. I used SLP on two other occasions through the 20 years. My treatment by Sandra is the best experience by far. Better care and better results."

"The Staff of Physical Therapy at Olney have been patient, helpful, and critical in treating me after a total knee replacement. They explain the proper techniques for the exercise regimen they give you but explain you also have to do the work in between sessions as well to regain the proper movement and mobility. As I progress through the sessions, I know because of their direction I can have hope for a proper recovery"

Jo Stelzig

"Valerie has given me incredible personal attention. She is very efficient, well trained, and great at sharing her knowledge. Any time she started something that seemed unusual to me, she clearly explained the reason. I would highly recommend her for her specialty of lymphedma, or for any other physical therapy need."

Chris Gartland

"Val is an outstanding physical therapist. She is deeply knowledgeable about the strengthening, balance and stretching exercises needed to recover from surgery. She is very observant and a great listener. She pushes you to help yourself while bringing empathy and humor. She actually makes physical therapy almost fun. I've worked with a handful of very good therapists over the years and Val is definitely the best."
