"My daughter came to the Emergency room. She was finding it impossible to breathe. My wife wanted to verify the cause. She had to help the nurse entering the information with spelling my daughters health conditions. We sat for HOURS, when the doctor finally arrived to the hospital. There was nobody else to see patients only that one doctor. Everyone had to wait until he arrived. The nurse ridiculed my daughter. She has Familial Dysautonomia, a very serious health problem. She said she only was having a "panic attack" and to "get over it." The doctor released her without any medication, just sent her home. I will avoid this hospital and particularly the emergency room. The lack of staff. The abusive and demeaning treatment. The care is equal to a third world country. Go somewhere else if at all possible. And yet the cost was the standard charge. My daughter did not have insurance. Yet, the hospital would not offer any discount. So, top dollar charged, yet patient care sub zero."
"I had a great experience! All of the nurses were super helpful and caring. I had a c section which required me to stay for a few days and it was a very comfortable environment I didn't feel rushed to leave or abandoned in the room the entire time. Even the cleaning crew was super sweet. They gave me 3 meals a day for me and my partner as well and reminded us to eat when we got too busy with the baby and everything going on. 10 out of 10 experience!"
"Fantastic care from ED provider, RNs, techs. Then admitted to 7E surgical floor. I had the best care from my providers, nurses, CNAs, and phlebotomy. The OR staff were also so kind and reassuring taking time to answer all my questions. Food service and housekeeping were always so pleasant and smiling. While I never want to be admitted in the hospital, every member of my team made it a little bit easier."
"Zero stars!!! Avoid!!! Waited 1 hour and 30 minutes just for registration, then one hour just to wait to be called for blood test. No one in front of me! They are just chilling! I fasted for the test. Feeling terrible. How you can treat humans like that? Just do your job!"
"I've been treated with dignity, respect and Love since my arrival early Saturday,, today is Wednesday and about to be released. Since the ladies at the reception, to the receiving nurses, to the people pushing me in a wheelchair or hospital bed to my room, X-ray room, Stress Test Room, Laboratory or operating (Surgery) Room,, including Nurses and CNA's and also housekeeping personnel,,, I must say this feels like a truly 5 Star Service. I don't know if in the past people didn't get treated correctly,,, but whatever You (St. Joseph Medical Center), are doing,,, just keep it up. God Bless you All."
"My experience yesterday for a heart cath was five stars. Everyone was pleasant, professional, polite, informative, calming, (we even had a lot of laughs which is definitely good medicine) and this certainly made this "scary to me" procedure much more tolerable. I can't say enough positive about everyone from the beginning to the end of my stay. My cardiologist, Dr. Aziz is also THE BEST! Highly recommend! Thank you!"
"While I can't speak to others' experiences in reviews here, my stay at St. Joe's was a very positive one. I wasn't awake/aware during my ambulance ride and ER visit, but I spent four days (Jan. 18-21) in a room in 5W. Everyone I met was friendly and helpful. I can't remember the names of all the nurses of 5W that took care of my needs - but some were Lekshmi, Leo, Aryn, and Danielle. The doctors were friendly and took the time to ask and answer questions. SJ even had people who would stop by my room every day to get input on my care and see if I needed anything else. I even had a great conversation about old movies with the woman who came to collect my garbage. Finally, I was surprised at the food service provided. The menu was large and tasty, and the staff was accommodating to my vegan diet. Sometimes people forget the key role health care workers play, and I am grateful to those at St. Joe's who nursed me back to health when I really needed it. Thank you, Dave."
"I know this hospital doesn't always have the best reputation, but my experience in the Labor and Delivery department was absolutely phenomenal. The staff worked together seamlessly to make sure I had a safe and smooth delivery. They all were very pleasant individuals. During my stay, they also caught a heart issue I had been ignoring for years and quickly transferred me to the cardiology department. There, I met Abeer, Rachel, and Irma -- three incredible employees who made my experience so comforting and positive. I truly appreciate the care and attention I received from everyone."
